This was a quick blitz game that I enjoyed. It featured a strong center and a Queen-Rook battery on the d-file. Enjoy!

1. d4 d6 2. c3 e5	Already, the center is being claimed and fortified.



3. Nh3	? Knights on the rim are rather dim!

3... Nf6 4. e3 Be6	Preparing Nc6.



5. Qf3	A simple threat.



5... Nc6 6. g4	I probably should have just carried on with development, but I wanted that Night there to stay.



6... h6 7. g5 hxg5 8. Nxg5	I have a Rook on the half-open file.



8... Qd7 9. dxe5	? Okay, I'll open the center, because after dxd5 it's O-O-O for me!



9... dxe5 10. Rg1	Claims the other half-open file.



10... O-O-O	!! Insta-battery!



11. b4	Nope, won't cut it.



11... Bg4	I win. Checkmate is unavoidable.
	2 comments coolistdude (1704) on 17-Oct-11: Why does white have to give up his queen if e2 is open? After Rxg4 there seems little reason not to move White's queen to e2. Position is still 0-1 of course as Black has many pleasing attack opportunities to choose from. If 12. Rxg4 Nxg4 13. h3 Nh2 14. Qe2 Nxf1 15. Kxf1 Qxh3+ is not possible because of 16. Nxh3. I think thereaper1 is correct, that Nxb4 looks promising, however, it is not a forced mate especially with Qd1. thereaper1 (1985) on 18-Oct-11: Not true. Aside from the moves white has that give up the queen, white still has the saving move 12.Rxg4. Nxg4 13. Nxf7 however Black has a great reply ignoring the fork. 13... Nxh2!! And white has to give up his queen. so instead of the immediate Nxf7 white could try 13. Bh3 but black can play 13... Rxh3 14. Nxh3 Nxh2! So white is in a bad way but considering it's Blitz the game is still not over. Although this was a good move I think black had an even better move, 11... Nxb4! looks promosing. EDIT: True coolistdude, I forgot about Qe2 however my main point is that the game is not won at this point, not at this level in a blitz game anyway. And What do you mean about Qd1 after Nxb4? that would just lose to mate.
