I'm sorry that I have to be this person... If you're +8 and your opponent doesn't have any attacking momentum, the game is yours to lose. If you were even down that rook, you'd have the risk of walking into an opposite bishop endgame (which is typically understood to be an easy draw), but for now, being a knight up; White should be winning. Far more effective in your teachings would be to raise the stakes by presenting a solution in that position to prevent such a mess... or even how to think to improve your chances of walking out of the draw situation on top. I find those kinds of endgame need-to-knows are far more valuable and would therefore improve the quality of an annotation aimed at improving endgame performance.

There is a moment, at move 16., where a lot of tactical things can be explored (Bxc7!), Besides, there was probably a trick by white somewhere, based on RxBd7 threatening a back rank mate after R and Q have been exchanged... a pity you didn't explore it.

bigpeta annotated the game for the endgame, so it's his choice. If he wanted to, he could have not annotated the game at all.

No, here it means that it accomplishes two goals.

Black is down by 11. There are no pawns on the 3rd rank or lower. There are no passed pawns. Black will not win this game under any circumstances... his only real hope is in trying to exploit the position of the pieces he actually has into a stalemate. In short, Black stopped playing for a win even before you started to annotate this game, so there's hardly a point calling any of Black's moves a mistake right now.

In order to go for a stalemate, black has to block its own pawns. b5-b4. That's not counting the other three... if someone can find a stalemate here...

Black has three pawns, each having at least two squares of movement before hitting a roadblock. Even if Black's king was frozen and couldn't move in front of his own pawn here, White has no fewer than 6 turns, if not more, before a draw happens. There is no draw pressure here even remotely.

This, I'd actually recommend against doing whenever it could be helped. You don't need to kill off pawns that aren't in your way... least of all pawns that your enemy is forced to push forward after you trap the Black King from moving at all!

I'm sorry, but this annotation (given the intentions behind its end game improvement) would have been far more helpful if White had any actual threat in losing his win for this match. This annotation could help a very fresh beginner, but surely anyone ranked 1300 or higher could clearly tell White had this game without any dispute, from where you began.

It is true that, even with an overwhelming advantage, it was not "straigt forward" a win for white. To set a mate net on an open king in the middle of the board is a matter of pure technique, as as such, it well deserves to be explored. Thank you for bringing it to us.
