44. .................... a4 then resigns. On the last move I duly took full advantage of black's error and swiped the e pawn off. If black had not resigned then I would have taken off the a pawn and played my king to b2. I now have a passed pawn and I think it was that plus the pawn minus that led black to throw in the sponge. Because my opponent was rated 1727 at the time I gained 10.9 points from this and it was enough to give me my current rating - 1705! What a turnaround! | ||||
