Resignation might have been a good alternative. The pawn ending is hopeless; the minor piece ending is hopeless. The latter might have offered some hope if the bishop could infiltrate White's game (by anticipating this attack betimes and getting in ...a5 and ...Bd8 before or as the c-pawn fell. Imagine this position with white to play: w 1.b4! wins for White: 1...Bxc5 2.bxc5ch Ke6 3.Kd4 Kf6 4.c4 Ke6 5.h3 Kf6 6.Ke3 Kg6 7.Kf3 Kf6 8.g4 etc. Slightly better for Black than the game situation, but not by much.

+ zugzwang. If Kb7 then the WK will eat the black kingside p(r)awns - my king Henry is a seafood addict btw! If Kd7 then Kb6 will eat the a6 pawn and then the white a pawn will crown.

According to my usual habit, I might well have played 45.b4, here, but the text move is undoubtedly better.

To be honest, I didn't keep score. I reckon I would have scored very highly in the endgame, but it was pretty straightforward, really. Not too flash in the early stages, but. I enjoyed playing through this game!
