Yes, the computer gives Rxh6 73. Bxh6 Kxh6 74. Kf3 Kg5 75. Kg3 Kf6 76. Kf3 e5 77. Kg3 exd4 78. exd4 Kg5 79. Kf3 f4 80. Kf2 Kg4 81. Kg2 f3+ 82. Kg1 Kg3 winning, but I am not convinced. Why does white have to allow black to play e5, after which white is winning. Instead of 76. Kf3? given by the computer, white can make it harder with 76. Kf4! However black can still win with a clever pawn sac, 76.....e5+ 77. dxe5+ Ke6

Doesn't 74...Rh1 win? Also I think 78...Rg1+ - g4 - e4 was blacks best chance to play for a win. From there the king can try to pressure e3 with a well timed f5-f4 push.

But white doesn't have to move the bishop to allow the rook into e4

The way to play for a win is to march your king via the queen side to f3 and if he ever plays e4 with a Bishop on e5 then you recapture with the rook. Actually the problem is white can play Bg5 and if ..Rg3 withe just repeats with Bf4

I don't think white can win by marching his king to the queenside. If black tries that, white can shield the rooks control of the g file with his bishop and then move the king over to attack - and win the f5 pawn, for instance, 85. Be5 Ke7 86. Bf4 Kd7 87. Bg5 Kc7 88. Kg6

Well played game by both! You had him on the verge of defeat, it would've been a great achievement if you had beaten such a strong player.

At first glace I agreed with thereaper1 and thought the final position was winning for black via Ke6, d7, c8, b7... and eventually getting to f3 and giving back the exchange for the pawn, I think black can avoid the Bg5 with Kg6 idea by responding to Bf4 with Rg8, problem is then that white play for Kh7 with the idea of Bg7 and black can only prevent a perpetual by giving up the f pawn. Tried doing this with the idea of getting King to d3 and playing Rxe3 but after Bxe3 Kxe3 black has time to pick up the c pawn which ends up with a pawn and eventually a Queen each and still drawn. -------------- good game, well played both.

I was very lucky to get away with a draw! I suspect the final position is actually lost, but I am not sure of the correct route to a win. I am saying that, because on the endings databases, which can only have maximum of 6 pieces total, K, B & P v K, R & P seems to be a win for the side with a rook. brigadecommander says "Black could not win this game with the white black squared bishop in the game.
