You don't mean 'lost' in the sense that your position is hopeless and you're going to lose, I assume? Because you're still 4 points up and totally 'winning'. But yes, 22...h6 is the only way out. Then you have to play 23.f5+ or 23.h5+ so you can reetreat your bishop afterwards. I like 23.f5+ Kh7 24.Bf6, when there's again a mating threat (Rxg7#) so he has to play 24...Rg8 (or 24...Kg8 but that loses more material after 25.Rxg7+ Kf8 26.Rxc7 Rg8 etc.). Anyway Black would have been totally hopeless then.

@l-d-j, you are correct. I didn't mean "lost" in the sense of the game, more in the sense of my next move. If he had played 22...h6, I would not have known exactly what to do next, but I really like your suggestion.

well played! There's one thing that I'd like to mention. In this case the plan was good no matter if it would have worked or not. But if you have a plan which you hope your opponent doesn't see, you always have to look: 'What wiill happen if he does see it?' If it would put you at a disadvantage which you didn't have in the current position, then don't play it. In other words: always assume your opponent plays the best move. This is just a general guideline, not specifically addressed to you (I don't know what you would do in such situations. There's also an exception: if you're in a position which you know you will lose if you just continue normally, you can always try a trick. It's no problem if he does see it because you would be lost anyway, and if he doesn't see it, that's good for you. I know a story of a chess player on this site who was losing because he had two pieces en prise (attacked). He put a third piece en prise, hoping his opponent would take the wrong one (only one capture was correct). The opponentdid and, although that move was probably objectively not best, it did eventually lead to a win for him.
