Computer gives this as a final blunder by black, but it is lost anyway

I agree, if you're down in material ancd clearly losing but it will take your opponent long to checkmate you, you should resign. But if you can already see the checkmate coming you can play it out, because it also feels like a pleasure to mate someone. I don't like it myself if my oponent resigns one move before I can deliver checkmate, so I won't resign if my opponent is close to mating. But obviouslyy if ou're just a rook or so down without compensation you should simply resign.
