Annotated chess game

'Middle game' usually refers to a phase of the game. 'Centre' is the usual term for the centre of the board: the middle 4 squares specifically, but also, more generally to the 2 ranks of 4 squares, and even sometimes the 16-square region. Context will generally tell you how specific or general the expression is being used.

There are so many good moves available it is hard to choose from among them. Probably my favorite is to bring up the reserves with attack by 14.Bxg5 Qd6 15.Nxe5 Qxe5 16.Bxf7ch Kf8 17.Bh5ch Bf5 18.Rxf5ch etc.

15.Nxe5 Qxe5 16.Bxd7ch Kxd7 17.Nf3ch Qd6 18.Rd2 is decisive.

At once 17.Nxe5 was also good.

18 Qxe5+ forces a queen exchange and gains the black knight, pretty much sealing blacks fate

Instead of using this rook, which is quite handily placed on the f-file, I would have brought that lazy coot out from under the boardwalk at a1 to c1, or even d1. But better yet, I like 18.Nxb5 Nxf3ch 19.Rxf3 etc.

A better 'refuge' was to join the posse by playing Ne5, or, possibly better yet, 20.Bd4.

Black is really starting to come back into this game. As material is still more or less level, White had better be careful. Nor TOO careful though...

Leading to an immediate win was 23.Rxe7ch Kf8 24.Rxf7ch Kg8 25.Rxf6 and Black's resistance comes to an end.
