its hard for me to comment on 1800 and 2100 rated players. but i do play alot more black than white, personally i also agree that the b4 square isnt effective for black DSB i much prefer placing my DSB on d6 e7 or rarer c5 depending on scenarios. i also like bd7 for my LSB. although in the instance the d7 d6 squares arent available for the bishops due to the hanging pawn it would leave- so ya be7 would be my choice

it is not dubious, in fact the position is almost dead equal.

I would suggest here Qb3, rather than e3. You see, bishop usually goes on e7 so the black wont have to double his pawns or take with queen after exchange on f6. The reason is that if the black queen goes on f6, d5 pawn loses one of it's deffenders. So Qb3 would require defending the b4 bishop and the d5 pawn. I believe such move would force exchange on c3, which is good for U.

i dont like having my pawn on c6 when i dont have a e pawn anymore. id rather not move him and maybe keep a queen side castle option open.

c6 is a weak move, not necessary to protect d5 at this time! 6..h6 or castling would be better

This is actually not a weak move. The threat here is a3, and if ...Bxc3+, I obtain the bishop pair at no cost. If the bishop retreats, I play b4 then Bxf6, and gxf6 is forced to not lose the d5 pawn.

maybe thematic, but not best. Bd3 is much better or even Qb3

Can you explain why Bd3 is MUCH better

i think i wouldve taken the time to send my DSB back to d6, after this reply as black, lol take a loss of tempo for a better diagonal since you reinforced prior to him sending his queen and then look to castle king side.

Bd3 is good, because you have many options about the place of your queen. Keeping them open means that your opponent have to cover more variations. At the same time, the bishop is supposed to go on d3 as a whole.

The thing with this type of push is that usually it's bad. But when it is good (and occasionally it is) it is very, very good. I'd feel a bit dubious about it here, as Black's game is looking very porous now - full of holes.

each time i played the push like this ive lost and each time i played it i thought it looked so good at the time i played it. but it creates such bad set up for later game if played properly by white. ive learnt to almost not move my kingside pawns anymore. just cant scratch the itch of playing my f pawn though >< good pun Ion

g5 is bad here Bd6 or castling would improve black's chances

also now once you take out his DSB your DSB will have so much freedom from the g3 square. renduring the d6 and e5 square liabilities later on for black--- im not a fan of taking out my queen early at all. but im not ranked 2100

9...Ne4 would have met a response similar to the text: 10.Bd3.

you are right Ne4 is better, black's timing is off just a bit.

here is why i like the d6 square for my DSB for when white plays their g knight to e2 instead of f3 of course this comment is a little off cause the white DSB was pushed out to g3 in this game

12...Nh5 should have been seriously considered here

i personally do not like the d7 square for my bknight. e7 is better for the original g knight. if you want a knight posted on the 2nd rank.

13..Bxc3 is somewhat better, and 14.h4 is better for you. The threat of b4 will still be there.

As I see it, black plan a castle on the Queenside. So, returning their queen to d8 would stop them from executing this plan. I don't know...

nice your DSB is stronger than his i say in the position yours is in. good to keep him alive. also you basically sent his queen back home. thats a loss of tempo for him developing it early. and had he placed his bishop on e7 earlier also while you gained a3 and b4

There's no rush.

c5 should be played now. At this point the threat created by Ng4 is too easy to defend. GM Bent Larsen once gave very good advice to us all. "Never play a move that you can see the defense to."
