The rooks were already connected, so that is a bit strange comment. This move creates pressure on the g-file. But I would have chosen the other rook on the h-file, because that rook is kind of locked in at the moment.
In simple terms the lesson here seems to be - if you do the move you're thinking of, what's the worst your opponent can do to you? Sometimes it helps to use the analyze board feature and turn the board around so you see it from your opponents view.
