It is a pity that Magnus gave the press conference the go by. But it was also understandable. He left a lot of himself on the board this day. The press could have been a bit more celerious in preparing for the after match conference. The waiting was enough to tip him over the edge. +++++ RESPONSE to
teardrop34 I heard that there is a contractual arrangement about press conferences. So Carlsen has incurred the ... penalty (if the organisers choose to exact it). But the World champion will probably not be so concerned about that as he will be about the state of the match and his state of mind. In today's (9th) game, Karjakin got an early marginal edge and used it to pressure Carlsen, who was simply unable to shift state of the game in his favour. In the almost-dead-drawn QBP end game, it was difficult to determine which, if either, of the two players was prolonging the game!
