Doesn't stop Black picking up a second piece. Best was 11.Bd2, though, a piece down, White's chances of survival are close to naught.

Black could win another piece with 11... Nxe3, but supposing this had not been available, a better move was ...0-0 or maybe ...Qb6. Because White has chosen to place all his pawns on dark squares, Black's dark-squared bishop can't do much (for now) wherever it goes, but then, neither can White's!

11...Nxe3 = 2 pieces ahead and an easily winning game.

Double attack. A fork is when one piece or pawn attacks two of the opponent's pieces; here the pawn and bishop are each attacking a piece. However, Black should not panic; the double attack does not necessarily mean she must lose one of the attacked pieces. See next comment.

Messy.

Instead, 12... Bxe3 13. fxe6 and both sides lose a piece, so Black remains a piece ahead. Even better is 12... Nxe3 and because the knight attacks the White queen, White has no time to take the bishop!

12...Nxe3 would have been absolutely crushing. Where is there a safe square for the Queen? Not even 13.Qa4ch would save White, as 13...Bd7 or 13...b5! both lead to a terrific attack by Black.

White forgets the purpose of his earlier double attack; 13. Bxh6 was indicated.

13.Bxh6 would have brought White back into the game with something to fight for.

As you were: Black winning handily once more.

White should not have resigned. The checking bishop is 'en prise': White can take it for nothing. Having said that, Black should still win in a canter: E.g. 18.Qxe4 Bxf4 19.Qxf4 Qd5ch 20.Qe4 Qxe4ch 21.Kxe4 Nf2ch 22... Nxh1.
