With the idea of Bf3-g2 and f2-f4. However black can win a pawn now. Althought the pawn on e4 is protected by Nc3 and Bf3, the Nc3 can be driven away and the Bf3 exchanged. Fritz gives it as plus 1.28 to black.

The first step - to drive the Nc3 away.

12. Nce2
So the knight runs.

12... Nxf3
Then I take the bishop

13. Nxf3
He takes back.

13... Nxe4
And now the pawn goes.

14. Qf4
Rather than go into an ending a pawn down, white keeps the queens on.

14... Nxg5
I take.

15. Nxg5
He takes back. He is now threatening mate on f7. Now 15....Qf6 loses a pawn to 16. Qxf6 gxf6 17. Ne4 forking pawns on d6 and f6. I though 15.....Qe7 was anti-positional, as it blocks the development of my Bf8. However this may have been my best move. Fritz recommends it and thinks black is plus 1.31

At the time I thought my central pawn formation was good, covering several important squares. Fritz here recommends that white launches a sacrificial attack - 16. Nxe6 Bxe6 17. Nd4 Bd7 18. Rhe1+ Kf7 19. Nxf5 Qf6 20. Nxd6+ Bxd6 with black's advantage cut to about plus 1

Protecting b4 and attacking a2. Fritz gives black as plus 1.66

18. Kb1
King defends a2.

18... e5
Again the best move according to Fritz.

19. Qe3
Queen drops back.

19... Be6
Attacking a2 but Be7 is better. I though b3 was forced, I didn't see white's simple reply.

20. Nc1
White protects a2.

20... Be7
Continues with development, but Fritz likes Rc8 instead.
