Instead of this plan, Black might have played 33...Bf5. The knight having nowhere to go, White might have responded 34.f3 Bxg4 35.fxg4 Be5, with a clearly winning game for Black. White's passer is worthless. Apart from any other little projects that might crop up, one of Black's plans will be to march the king up the board and (threaten to) snaffle the doomed g-pawn.

Much more fun would have been 37...b6, threatening a quick checkmate.

The game I think had the potential to be even livelier than it was. White had his chances, and even when thrown more or less on the defensive, his game was still 'fightable'. The 27th move was the decisive turning point. For once a 'double purpose' move - blocking an attack and offering queen exchanges - proved the losing mistake. The move opened a broader range for Black's remaining pieces, and narrowed the scope of White's. Not the usual opposite-side castling game!
