I'm looking for a good chess book...
I'd like to study more on "breakthrough points" in a game.
any Ideas on how I could improve my reconnaissance to locate those points.....
this is my goal in the book, another pawn book, is not what I'm asking.
I would like some author who can write about it as a tool that I can use.

thank you, edwin(redo)

recent book on "breakthrough points"
Edwin,

CRITICAL MOMENTS IN CHESS by Paata Gaprindashvili

explores those critical, pivotal moments when games are won -- or lost.

@ shamash
Thanks for the tip. Any idea where you can get a copy? Amazon, for example?

where to find Critical Moments in Chess
It is published by Batsford, which has excellent distribution.

I bought mine new in a bookshop April 2010.

If you are in Winnepeg, then for instance McNally Robinson at Grant Park probably has it in stock.

The writer is past champion in European Correspondence Chess, better known for his first book, "Imagination in Chess."

But this work is way more useful and rigorous, fully exploring the critical moments in developing the initiative,
struggling for the initiative
and capturing it,
creating an attack,
obtaining an advantage,
retaining the advantage,
creating counterplay,
wresting the initiative away from your opponent,
and delivering the decisive blow.

enjoy.

Thank you
This is what I'm looking for:

I did not know about the author history, It is right in line with my developing "Pudry" thinking.

thanks again.
