hi
I am Chris and this is my club and I just wanted everyone to say hello

Hey
My real name is Keith. Thumper and Shamash got me here. I have known shamash for a bit and have known Thumper about twice as long. I have been on gk for several years. I have been a part of the forums here way back before they had the clubs. I started out playing chess here but now I would say I almost spend more times in the forums. Its at least 50/50.

When I saw the topics here I knew I had to join. I am VERY interested in aliens but I also know I need to be careful so I dont sound like a loon. I am looking forward to some good conversations here. Hello to all.

Hello Odiferous Gaseous Expulsion
Welcome on board here. People seem willing to talk about anything in this club. And seeing as you are a person and know how to talk, it'll be cool having you here. But maybe take it easy on the beans before posting.

Hi All...
I'm Softaire (aka Bruce)

Minnesota bred, Escaped to Southern California. I like the weather here, the sun, lots of
music, science, science fiction, aviation, flying, reminiscing, reunions with friends, sports, and
chess. (that's not to imply that I am good at any of them)

Also, I do not like politics but I do enjoy discussing it and trying to justify my statements &
positions. I enjoy trying to explain why I believe certain things (and figuring out what it is that
I do believe), so please challenge me... I need the practice.

I also like my naps. At my age the definition of a successful weekend is one where I get a nap
on each day!

do you think we can chuck modern physics aside
And hit warp speed, and not only that do you think we can also keep all the species on our
planet and stop over fishing and deforestation.

Welcome Stinky and Softie, glad to see you guys show-up. The people here seem to be straight forward, honest, opinionated and curious but not mean spirited. You'll fit right in. Thanks for adding your technical and biological uniqueness to our own.

Hello Softaire
Welcome aboard. Political discussions are tricky. Throwing out your ideas instantly gets you labeled not matter how intelligent or weak your arguments are.

If I say that I like Mitt Romney for president, most people will assume that I am a gun-owning, abortion-hating, war-mongering stubborn idiot.

If I say I like President Obama, most people will assume that i am a tree-hugging, big-government loving, class warfare touting stubborn idiot.

So, sure! Let's talk politics!

Or we could also talk about dogs. I've got a pair of mixed-breed rescue pups. By the way, is that a US Marine logo I see as your profile pic? My eyes are so sub-par I can't quite make it out.

Check!

That's why we can think
Hi to the new guys, and welcome. We all love discussion, and we debate different points of view. Go all out, enjoy, and put your ideas out there for us to evaluate. I think most of us here are open for convincing, if you can prove your point. We all have opposing views about the topics here, but we investigate the ideas; we don't attack the person. That's why I live by the motto: THINK FOR YOURSELF!!! Elevate the thinking process, don't degenerate into personal attacks. I await your posts eagerly.

Howdy.

Yes, that is the Marine Corps emblem. Glad I did it... wouldn't want to do it again.

I like dogs. The one in my picture is Luke, who passed about three years ago. We now have
another Lab "puppy" (nearly 3 yrs.old) and a rescued Korean Jindo. Both are great friends (both
to us and to each other) and both have their own special personality.

I said Hi
in the wrong place.

Hi.

My name is Ty. I am friends with many here.

The rest, I hope to call my friends soon enough. I am a recovering Guillain Barre patient.

It was no fun. It nearly killed me and this last year, which was year 7, was the toughest. But it has also been a remarkable year of recuperation.

I am grateful for what I've got these days.

I think for myself--and have strong opinions.

I love other people. Very much.

Thanks for having me here...

Some new members
Hi to you all!

We have some new members, and we've been talking to and with them for some time now. However, I think that this thread with a simple introduction is a bit lost between all our other conversations. I just accepted another new member, alfredalfred, into the club.

Indeed, welcome, enjoy, contribute! Please introduce yourself, and we invite you actively participate.

Some of the other newer members have not introduced themselves yet. Most have been quite active. Please guys, just tell us a bit more about yourselves.

Hello
My real name is Lyle. I am a small time rancher as my family has lived on our land here in New Mexico since the early 1800s. Over the years I have sold some land as my kids grew and moved away three girls they all went to school and made careers for themselves. I live a very simple but hard working life. I worked the same job for thirtyfive years as a soil inspector for the county until I retired a couple of years ago. Now it is just me my wife of fourty years and our land and animals. I believe that I am extremely lucky in that I am at peace and very happy.

Welcome
Welcome to the latest additions to our club.

Lyle, your life sounds great to me.... the calm is very appealing. Unfortunately, I still have a way to go before I can experience it, but I am working hard to ensure that it happens.

Abubakar, teaching those young children is a huge responsibility. You don't just transfer your own knowledge of the English language; you also convey some of your own impressions, prejudges, thoughts, personal preferences and characteristics and many other things to them. It is a great opportunity to influence those young minds in a positive way. Make the most of it.

(PS: I also love the X-files.....)
