That is expressing what I have mulled over by myself often. We humans are arrogant beyond belief. I often think to myself that nature would have been better off without us, because of that arrogance.

Were the whale the most intelligent being on Earth they would be inclined to gaze and wonder of their ocean world rather than at what those land dwellers of lesser mind considered significant. Lacking arms, hands, and residing in a land of plenty, they might be less inclined and more limited. Perhaps they would know and be content with the knowledge that it is the living ocean that is the most intelligent being of all. Perhaps man would someday know likewise.

Most intelligent species
What I am thankful for, is not the fact that I'm very intelligent (I'm not, I believe I'm quite average in intelligence), but that I'm intelligent enough to know my limitations. I know that I'm no genius; I know that I don't have the highest IQ. However, I also know that I am capable to learn, when to shut my mouth and listen, and when some other people who are less inclined to wisdom and knowledge continue talking when they should not.
I also add that great intelligence is not necessarily linked to any wisdom at all. Even a mediocre intellect can possess great wisdom, if applied correctly.

Wisdom, intelligence, stupidity, foolishness... and arrogance
I know some people who do not possess a high IQ, are not much book learned, but nevertheless are wise. I also know many people who are highly intelligent, have very impressive qualifications, and are foolish.
And then I know some arrogant people.

No, Chris, I never thought of you as 'all of the above'. Rather, some traits I've attributed to you are intelligence, wisdom, sincerity, friendliness, altruism and honesty.
Pawntificator, arrogant people always know better. They are loud and want to force their point of view on another. They never know when to back down. Arrogant people don't know or understand when they are wrong. I can't prove it, but I suspect that arrogant people are huge liars.... Many arrogant people don't know the limits of their own intellect, and have an overinflated sense of self importance. They have a limited sense of diplomacy and usually don't take other people's feelings into consideration. Arrogant people think only of themselves, in my opinion. To me they seem like the bullies who take the other children's lunch money on the playground. I love bullies. I connect with them on a personal level. Often.
Arrogant people don't know the concept of humility.
Arrogance is one thing I sincerely hope nobody ever accuses me of. Together with jealousy and prejudice, it is some of the nastiest characteristics any person can have.
Combine that with the lack of wisdom or restraint, and it is a recipe for disaster.

I just saw a funny video about psychopaths
It said if you happen to be a smart psychopath you can be a successful professional and do great things in life. If you are a stupid psychopath you will probably stab someone with a broken bottle and go to jail.
I'm not sure how this is relevant now, but I'm sticking with it.
