Ending The War in Iraq

Obama ended the war in Iraq.
This is true by the fact that Obama withdrew all the US troops from Iraq. Who would like to dispute that ? First of all, Bush invented this unnecessary war by getting rid of Saddam Hussein who under his control was much peaceful. Listen to Obama's speeches carefully. He never utters a word, " War." He always said repeatedly, " No boots on the ground." In other words war does not exist for Obama's USA unless massive US boots were on the ground. He also said that the conflict there should be resolved mainly by concerted efforts of local nations and international community. It will be ludicrous to think that US alone can resolve the problem by sending the US troops there. Analyze the American Civil war where 600.000 Americans died. Did any foreign nations come and stop this American Civil war ? The answer is, "No". One will argue, " Why US is bombing there? ", Well, this is Obama's flexible plan and he wants to show that he is doing something. The next question is, if the US bombing does not work, what should the US do next ? If my theory is correct, stop bombing and do nothing and this will end the America's participation in Iraqi war. In other words, Obama will end the US war in Iraq.

Baghdad is about to fall
to ISIS. So much for the Americans that died there. Its obvious the airstrikes are not working. Pathetic

What's next if Baghdad falls to ISIS ?
It is true bombing alone ( air war ) without ground troops is not working because they are now well adapted to how to evade the bombing attacks. The problem is US abide by the rules of engagement. We cannot bomb indiscriminately like Syria's Al Assad who will use barrel bombs to civilians. The terrorists are now using human shields. They mingle with civilians and without openly using weapons and or other military vehicles such as tanks or Humvees, US and its allies cannot distinguish terrorists from ordinary citizens. The situation is similar to when Hamas attacked Israel with rockets from Gaza strip. Bombing alone could not solve the problem until Israel invaded Gaza with tanks. If US send the ground troops, at least it will need 100,000 US troops. Not only the troops, US needs to send tanks, artillery and heavy weapons to fight the terrorists. I was in Desert Storm and I know this kind of deployment will take at least 6 months to prepare, assemble and equip US troops before launching an attack. It is too little and too late to send US troops now.
As US citizens, we will definitely regret after sacrificing so much of our treasure ( a trillion US dollars ) and blood ( 45,00 US troops died, thousands injured and disabled ) if Baghdad falls. This is pale in comparison to Vietnam war where nearly 60,000 of our troops died. In retrospect, by withdrawing US troops and ending the Vietnam war, US was in a better shape than before until US got involved in Afghanistan.
Similar to Vietnam war, IMHO, if US will not get involved anymore in Iraq, we will be in a better shape. I am sure all of you will like to question the consequences of non intervention by US in Iraq war. Let's debate.

Ace
My personal opinion is that Peace-Prize screwed up by not following the advice of his military generals. He lost all the gains made by our soldiers by not leaving a residual force to protect our investment.

But, now that it is done, I find his current plan to be ludicrous. He is now aiding and abetting our enemies. He is doing this alone... there is no coalition. Turkey is laughing at him. There is NO plan to win, no plan to end, and no plan to get out. This is a no-win situation.

You are correct... if we get out completely, we will be better off than if we stay and squander another Trillion dollars and whatever number of people.

This is a loser, directed by a loser.

Hate to say it, but Ace is right.

The fact is that we had a very solid opportunity to end this properly and did not. In fact, we left with nothing. Then we allowed this vacuum to be filled with our enemies while we refused to act.

And by we---I mean Dear Leader.

And there is no question that his world view has disintegrated in from of him. He started by claiming that his apology tour would cause our allies and enemies to respect us.

Not only did he misjudge our allies but he was completely out of his depth concerning our enemies.

Mitt Romney had this nailed. And we sit around and stare at each other because the libs wanted more social spending. Smart move. Now we get neither the economy we need and want or the peace we hope for...thanks guys.

What a complete disaster. I cringe to think of the things we don't know today.
