Thanks for the very clear explanation Dave. 8....e5 will be my vote.
as dave has lucidly explained,we are badly cramped and need breathing room, I find nothing wrong with 8...e5,although i prefer b6 followed if possible by c5,as i consider the direct assault on the centre to be a bit premature, but if the majority want e5, i reckon I can live with that,

9....Qe7 prophylaxis. Overprotecting e5
i would prefer Re8, later pg5 to break the annoying pin on the queen, and then play Qe7

Interesting. Rooks can be one of the hardest pieces to place early on. How often have we heard the comment the wrong rook. I myself would rather leave it on f8 at the moment to support an f5 push later on after giving whites black square bishop the boot with g5. But again KID is not in my black opening repertoire so this game is an education.

der
pretty much what i i would do,except i would move the rook first, and leave the queen where it is as the only defender of the pawn on c7,incase martin plays10. pxp provoking exchanges and leaving it an undefended target.
I agree with Morgan that Re8 should be the next move with the possibility of Qe7 and g5 coming later.
I also concur. So, 9...Re8 is also my vote.
9. Re8 next is my vote
Lets for sure go with 9. Re8 to cover that e file. We are starting to be less cramped. Depending on his next move, 10. Qe7 or pg5 or pg6. In the future I still see pg6, followed by Bc7 to cover that long white diagonal.

Should we play 10. ........ Nf8
……. to defend g6? Or do you have any other ideas? I look forward to hearing from you all! With kind regards, Jo

Now white has 0-0 i think we should at least consider g5/Nh5 hunting down the black squared bishop of whites. Also takes the pawn off the weakened g6 square.
For the reason that Wolfgang mentioned, unless Dave thinks that we should do something different, my vote is 10...g5
I like 10...g5 here as well. I'd see the knight on f6 moving pretty soon and then the knight on d7 can take its place.
g5 by all means. BUT DO NOT FOLLOW WITH NH5??. leads to martin playing pxp and exchanges that destroy our kings side and might as well resign in my opinion. stick to our plan and move the queen next follwed if feasible by queens nite to b6.
10. g5 seems my thoughts echo with nambam

10.....g5 11.Bg3 Nh5 12.dxe Nxg3 13.hxg Nxe5 what have I missed
not as bad as i first thought, but still gives white a strong attack, and weakens our king side and ties us to defence

What about10.......e7 protecting e5 and f7. Thougj Nf8 does protect g6 and allow the bishop out
thats o.k. if you mean qe7 followed by g5. not much difference what order the two moves are made in i don't think
I would favour now 10....Qe7 with a possibility of g5 next.
I could also get on board with 10...Qe7 before ...g5. That way we add a threat that has to be dealt with.
Upon reading Dave's post, I change my vote to 10...Qe7.
My vote will be 10. Qe7 It will allow for more options, next move g5 maybe. Lets see what happens after our move of 10.Qe7
