ion or anyone else....
Well, blitz is another form that can be used as a tactical exercise puzzle in ways.It can help your game in ways, but perhaps it can hurt it too,I suppose...atleast i've read that somewhere. You will never really see me tell you to play blitz to "improve"your corresp games!I use blitz to try out different irregular openings,a gambit, intentional sacrifice of a piece like a Knight(and sometimes a Queen) or a pawn or two...to see if I can "come back" from the dead!So thats "my"value in playing blitz.Other reasons are more "hidden".Like seeing how an opponent playes, behaves, his "style",subtle weakness's or strengths, for example. This may very well help me "understand"that opponent ESPECIALLY if I end up playing against him in my GK corresp games or on another chess site!!!So that has hidden value as well!Does he,for example, favor exchanging a Bishop or Bishops in an open game? Some do,even though in theory that is NOT the best things to do.But some do it because they feel they are better at using their Knights. But if I begin to see a pattern, especially in blitz repetition games, then,I can use this information as a form of a weapon in future corresp games to set him up or entice him to exchange that Bishop in an open game where I have the advantage with "my" Bishops.
See?That is a senior master way of looking at things! Its a complex theory, but it has proven valid value in it...atleast i've seen it over the years.

ion,i'll have to gather up some other Q sac games and post in the future.I erased those recent ones, but there will be more!I actually have a setup with 2 mouses, always activated. One is specifically designed for blitz and the other one is just for regular use. This way I can copy and paste two games right away, but I erased then to copy and paste other things. In the meantime here are some Q sacs from my corresp games!!!

No,i'm not "proud"of them, since my opponents were rated alot less than me,some beginners and were prone to blunders, but perhaps it is good learning tool for THEM in what NOT to do next time or perhaps work on building up a better defense first than go in and steal my gold coin just sitting around to be taken..(but that coin is laced with wet leprosy!).These are NOT my best examples!I have some 1900-2000 rated players that have lost to my Q sacs in the blitz room.I'll try and remember to copy and paste those in the future!Too bad we cannot simply tranfer the entire blitz game board by link into the forums, like our corresp games! That would be much better!(and a feature I hope we get one day!)

what the heck is this garbage?
Yes,my opponents many times write strange things like above, then by move 25 or less I rain down a thousand anvils on them! Then they say...ahhh..."you just got lucky"!
Then I say:"Luck has nothing to do with it"!

One of the secret keys in a sac game is that if your going to sac,sac your Knight,Bishop(or in my case a Queen)on the WEAKEST square that exists on blacks side in the opening. And like I mentioned in another post in this club, its the f7 square. Not only does that open a "hole"for white to concentrate on later in the game for a buildup of forces to concentrate on that square, but keep in mind that with black capturing that piece with his KING,he has lost his castling ability, but white has not.Yes,there is "artificial castling" for black but in very fast blitz, that costs time and tempo my friends,so it does not work many times. So then,in summary,
many times with the proper aggressive play(intiallly),its possible to force blacks King out into the open, work on that doubled pawn of his from the sac,use an edge file attack,or build up your own white defense better when you,as white, castle early and build up a pawn defense, for example, use stall tactics if he is coming in for a mate and many other techniques.

Here is a game,I just set up myself on a practice board, but it represents another sac tactic of mine to draw blacks King out in the open.In this particular example, however, there is no "doubled pawns"on blacks side as I mentioned above, but this is simply another style of mine in the sac "lesson" for many of my opponents.

1. e4 e5 2. Qh5 d6 3. Qxf7+ Kxf7 4. Bc4+ Be6 5. Bxe6+ Kxe6 *

Now in only 5 moves, note where blacks king is!!And on top of that he cannot castle anymore. It can soon be wide open to multiple Knight attacks, even my dark squared bishop once he moves out of one of my upcoming Knight checks or pawn attacks.Keep in mind,we are playing a 3 minute game with zero increment! You would be surprised at how many times blacks King actually ends up way over in MY territory down on MY 3rd or 4th rank!No way,you might be thinking....well,believe it my friend,I do not lie!

All of these fun things,I do not recommend for beginners or the faint of heart!!!

Now using that example above but NOT sacrificing a Queen, but perhaps a Knight or other piece on that f7 square, would be better for most.I use a Queen sac, only because many of my opponents are a thousand rating points below me in the blitz room(I have no option to select). And of course, sacing a Queen and later winning that game is the ultimate,in my opinion!
Why sac at all?Well, why did you have to climb that silly MT Everest and get frost bitten and lose that foot? Why do you go into a boxing ring to get hammered and later develop brain damage? You did not have to do that knowing the risks! But you did it anyway!

So the answer is,why not?Or because its "there"!!
But one can learn things by taking extreme risks and eventually succeeding. What are the risks really? The risks are "illusionary"....in an "unrated"blitz game.So go for the frostbite! You might not get frostbite or slide off that ledge plunging 10,000 feet down without a shute, but your opponent could! In rated blitz...well,thats a game of a different color.Do I sac in rated blitz?...Yes,but very few Queen sacs unless that opponent is approx 600-1000 points below me.But then, even for a win,I get zero rating points in blitz,so the logic is totally different in rated blitz.Thats another issue, another post.
