In fact, this is so important that I've restickied this thread yesterday. If a captain or even co-captain goes away and are in this club, I deem it very important to be able to communicate.

We accept challenges 365 days a year
Since all our co-captains and captains are capable of making and accepting challenges, we really don't have any time where we won't accept them. I don't recall a time where one of the crew wasn't available. We're lucky to have 3 very experience captains and co-captains and one newbie. We even have some co-captains that are just in charge of doing things and are listed as that on the Gameknot system, but are co-captains in charge of tutoring, certain forum topics, etc.

Yes. That is lucky scutzer, and I think it's due to the size of the team. Most teams have the same thing that I have when going away for a while.

Interesting Joe, I will be away as well for about a week in October, except this time I won't have Internet

I wouldn't mind so much if not for not having any active co-captains right now, to handle matches when I'm away. Having 107 members active in team games is hard enough to manage alone. I'm not complaining, as I manage it just fine, but I imagine when this vacation comes up I'll have catching up to do when it's over

Not having internet while away is what I'm used to. That's why I postpone for that time, and sometimes a little longer. I only had internet access on two occasions while away. Well, one didn't really count and was the first time. It was in Mount McKinley, Alaska. For most of that vacation, I didn't have computer at all. But, on that one day, everyone was looking at the mountain from a very clear view.

The time after, that, however, did count as I could use the computer quite a bit. It was in Williamsburg, Virginia. That hotel had a computer room. I didn't use the computer a huge amount. But, I was on during Tuesday while voting for American Idol contestants. Since this was very shortly after I blocked GAC and had just rejoined clubs that I left, I checked to see which ones I got in or not. Well there are two or three that I was never going to be allowed to join or rejoin. I got back in most, and one took a while. But, the founder informed me of what needed to be worked on before rejoining. After several months, I rejoined. All of this just happened to be my interest here, but why I needed the computer then was to fight for my favorite contestants. And, that's how I remember that event since this was about the time that I started that vacation.

Since then, there was only one other vacation in Florida, with which there was no computer. In general, I've learned to come to a realization that there's a very low probably of being able to use the computer while on vacation as I don't bring the labtop. As I'm worried about the possibility of it getting stolen.

I should also mention that on August 25th, it'll be the usual. So, I'll be going away to a fair. It's just a long weekend, though, as I'll be back online 2 or 3 days later.

To All Captains...On Vacation
Here's that time I mentioned a few months ago, I'll be away from Thursday (today) to Sunday, with no internet, so I won't be able to check on Gameknot for about 84 hours until I get back late Sunday. It probably won't be a good time to send a team match during that time, unless you're willing to wait. Just wanted to give everyone that heads up, I should be back soon

Makes Sense
I thought that the time was a little later. But, my time is soon, and for me, a little more extreme. As I won't be back on until I get back and possibly even a little longer depending on how long I sleep the day after I come back. So, this will be between 9-11 days before I come back online. I will be away starting in 5 days. However, with the work schedule, going to the gym, and packing, I will be postponing my games on Sunday. And, that postponement will last between 14-16 days which also gives me enough time to recover from jetlag, as there is a 6 hour time difference between where I am and where I'm going.

Well I hope you have fun Joe! Stay safe as well, and we look forward to seeing you back soon!

I'm back now, but I'll be away again for another 4 days at the end of this month, another short vacation. Nothing extreme, although travelling in my dad's 1973 Dodge Chrysler RV always makes me nervous, even though it's safe. I'm not used to travelling in something like that lol

Going off on vacation again. I'll be back late Sunday/early Monday. No internet (or very little) where I'm going, so I won't be able to check up on things until I come back. It's up to all the captains, but you may want to wait on sending a match until I come back. See you all soon!

Gone for 15 days
The Knights Templar is experiencing difficulties making matchups for the following reasons:

Co Captin apatzer is ill and his wife is ill

Co Captin kings_templar is busy building a house and does not have sufficient time to allot

Co Captain Goldaric is new and still uncertain of the 90 day requirements. I apologize in advance if some matches have been sent out that were unfair or unreasonable

Captain goldentweety has family issues in particular, his daughter had a gall bladder removal and this man must attend to his grandchildren while his daughter recuperates. In addition goldentweety is moving at thr rnd of the month and has a 15 day vacation flag remaining. While I try to check in from time to time we are not matching closely, and some matches are unfair. Please feel free to decline.

I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause other teams.

Thanks for letting us know, Joe. Please inform us when your situation improves. I had my gall bladder removed after putting up with the bad effects for 20 years. At that time my doctor told me that when they see gallstones, they refer us to a surgeon. I wouldn't consult a surgeon because I kept telling myself, "If God didn't want me to have a gallbladder, He wouldn't have given me one".   After the twenty years, I got a gallstone stuck in the duct. The doctor told me I might die the next time it happened. Then good sense took over and I had the surgery. I have had no trouble in that respect since. That was years ago I had the surgery.

I had my gall bladder removed in early August but did not have gall stones. After surgery the
doctor told me "you must quit smoking". Apparently it took longer than it should have for me to
come out my anaesthesia state. I had smoked for 55 years and it was surprisingly easy for me to
quit. Started out on the patch due to wife's insistence but did not complete the step down process.

I always knew one must want to quit to be successful at quitting.

Congratulations for conquering the habit of smoking, Mike. My husband quit smoking three times, and took it up again twice. Third time lucky.   He wanted to quit, but he also wanted to smoke.

Computer issues for captain of Knights Templar
I believe that the co-captains are now doing a good job of answering challenges and making challenges, please advise me if this is not so

I came back from my vacation after having moved and everything was going good until my computer blew the motherboard it is roughly a 400 dollar repair. I can't afford to repair it right now so I am biding my time, playing on my phone. It is difficult to make challenges from the phone I apologize to anyone who has been inconvenienced.

I will get my laptop from the pawn shop at the end of the month and I should be up back up and running by the 7th of the month. That means another postponement of my games because I just can't concentrate on such a small screen.

Any concerns regarding the Knight Templars can be sent to me by Me by p.m.

I will do my best to answer promptly

I'll be Back May 20
I'll be away on vacation with limited means to access Gameknot until May 19 or 20. Responses may be delayed to team matches if you send any to the Chess Warriors, however, I do have a co-captain who is ready to respond to matches, so don't be afraid to send matches to him.

I'll be back again soon, unless the jet crashes or something else happens. Yeah I don't like flying, even though I know it's the safest way to travel, I'm just not used to it. But most likely, see you all again soon

Thanks Shirley, I'm on vacation now, having a good time, but Gameknot from my tablet is so different from my laptop, I'm not one bit used to it. I do look forward to being back on my laptop

Back Again!
It's good to be back

It was a good vacation in New York, although I did have to deal with those wild storms that hit Tuesday. Also upstate is much better to relax in than the city if you ask me. I don't think I want to try to access Gameknot from a phone or tablet in the future though, using a touch screen is too different and stubborn for me

I think I have another vacation coming up in late June, a camping trip that's more local. I'll let you all know the dates once the time comes

Going on vacation again. Yeah I know, I was just on one, but this time it's closer to home (within 200 miles instead of 2,000 miles), and it's with friends and family. I should be back by Sunday or Monday, but I got a couple guys ready to take matches while I'm gone

Family Emergency
My dad was tarring our roof when things went terrible. He was on the back patio section when it collapsed with him on it. He fell, and although he was able to get up, he thinks he may of hit his head on the fall and was shaking violently at some points. If you could see it, it's really a miracle he survived, but things don't look the best. He's being taken to emergency right now.

I'll keep you all updated, but I may need time away, starting now of course. Hopefully things aren't as bad as I fear, as he's 66, and a 1+ story fall like that certainly would have a worse impact on him than someone younger. I hope he'll be okay, we'll see soon I hope.
