![]() These beautiful little eukaryotic fungi work wonders for our species. Without them we would have no leavened bread, beer, or wine. "A little leaven soon leaveneth the whole lump." |

![]() At least on my end. I'm mildly disappointed our wonderful exchanges are a waste of time in your view. Yes indeed, the corona virus is an excellent example. I wondered where I had gotten that expression, and am pleased you reminded me it DID originate with the good book. I've always said it, "a little levity soon leaveneth the whole lump," and I couldn't remember why I thought that was funny. |

![]() The proper way to drink it is to sip it, whether beer, wine, or scotch. Shots and chugging beer is a really big mistake. If the beer is not good, why are you drinking it? If it is good, nurse it and make it last. NEVER chug hard alcohol. The reason is that if your body does not disgorge the alcohol, it can kill you. People say see, this proves booze is poison. Is water poison? Because ou can die fom drinking too much water too. Make something taboo and you create an allure. Whatver is forbidden becomes desirable. |

![]() No, the real CO2 issue is the seven billion tons of coal and 3 billion tons of oil mined every year. That carbon source is somewhat novel--having been sequestered primarily in Carboniferous (Pennsylvanian and Mississippian) deposits several hundred million years ago. THAT adds up close to 40 billion NEW tons of CO2 each and every single year. If we did that one year, or two years, Earth would eventually absorb the blip. Instead, we've been doing it year after year for decades. Across ten years that is 400 billion tons of additional atmospheric carbon dioxide. In the past 40 years (since we first realized this was a legitimate issue impacting global climate) we have poured 1.6 TRILLION tons of CO2 into the air. Now THAT is a lot. And we have measured the global impact of it. We are changing the climate faster than it ever changed since the KT impact that wiped out the dinosaurs. We're facing a similar global extinction event. |

![]() The reason you thought the above expression was funny is because you used the wrong word in the remark. Perhaps it was accidental or, knowing you, perhaps it was deliberate. You said "levity" in your remark above instead of leaven. Levity means, according to my dictionary, "a humorous attitude, especially toward matters which should be treated with RESPECT". Also, it came to my mind after our previous discussion, that on sacred occasions, especially The Passover feast, God had told the people it was to be celebrated with "unleavened" bread, and that leaven was to be cleaned out of their residences for seven days. Exodus, chapter 12, verses 16-20 NKJV - The Passover, a memorial of redemption. |

![]() The Passover is a somber affair, isn't it? Very unlike a wedding. I have never been to a Jewish wedding where only grape juice was served. Just saying. |
