![]() If they move c5, we take it. If they exchange cxd5, we capture Bf1. If they move Nb4, we just take our bishop out of the way. |

![]() 2) The queen can be moved to 6 different positions, of which Qb4 and Qd8 are out of the question, so 4 positions left to be analysed: a) Qf7 b) Qe8 c) Qd6 d) Qc5 My first-hand analysis says that they are all defendable moves. I prefer c) out of these four because it attacks the white knight (a and b do not), and because it gives support to the weak pawn at e6 (d does not, and induces white to play Nd4 attacking our weak pawn, which we must support then by a rook losing some momentum) |

![]() I went to 5imon's profile to pick up the game there, and did a long analysis on the game from there, when I realized that something is wrong. Can somebody please post a link to the game for me? I unpacked all four my chess sets again and I am ready to look at our options. |

![]() The game is a few moves behind because Martin has been in hospital ![]() It is missing 16.f4 Ned7 17. Nxc6. We'll get it caught up again once Martin is back. |

![]() Qd6 feels a bit as though the queen is restricted and it would be better for a different piece to guard the pawn. I'll give this all some more thought tonight. |

![]() The queen can be moved to 6 different positions, of which Qb4 and Qd8 are out of the question, so 4 positions left to be analysed: a) Qf7 b) Qe8 c) Qd6 d) Qc5 But my first evaluations are not so clear a) after 1...Qf7 2.g4! White looks clearly better b) 1...Qe8 is interesting but 2.Nb4 Bb7 3.cxd5 looks dangerous. Maybe 3...Nc5!? can hold? c) 1...Qd6 2.Ne5 ... and now? c1) 2...Tac8 3.g4! clear advantage for White c2) 2...Ne4 3.Bxe4! d) 1,,,Qc5 2.Nd4 Rae8 3.a4! and White is better Please note: in all variations the knight in d7 is misplaced I'm trying to understand which line is the lesser evil |

![]() c1) 2...Tac8 3.g4! clear advantage for White c2) 2...Ne4 3.Bxe4!> In my analysis: c) 1. ....Qd6 2. Ne5 c3) 2. ....Rad8! However, it may be that 17. ...Qe8 is more solid than 17. ....Qd6, in view of Cyrano's suggestion above, which I had missed originally. At any rate, it seems to me now that these two moves are the two best options for black. |

![]() There were four votes for 17...Qd6 but perhaps these gave changed. |

![]() 17...Qd6 (ptitroque, tbre0022, riaannieman) 17...Qe8 (nambam, stalhandske, 5imon) We could really do with cyrano's final vote. |

![]() I am working on an analysis of what I think could happen and what we should prepare for. I have an idea, and will put it forward later for others to decide if it is good or daft. I first want to see what it could lead to. |
