very solid move guys ! Qc1
move the queen from the threat /and threatening the other Queen !
Ne4 for them will be useless and fortify our position ..i think their best response after Qc1 is Rc8

Qc1 is a good strong move

I vote 21.Qc1
I believe we have enough votes to make the move.

Consider the next move 22.Ba3 to attack Black's Q and R. See the diagram below.

I vote 22. Ba3

We have a superior position.

If I was on the black team, I would have left the team by now because they would have definitely made a few moves I was strongly against!

I vote 22.Ba3
This will bring on 22...Nc5 (forced) which we will follow with 23.b4. Black will have to play 23...Ncd7. This will bring on 24.b5 and now black has a very cramped game. We have better piece placement and an advantage in space. I consider this a lost position for black.

Yes. I considered giving b4 as a conditional move vote. But I figured that would just make things annoying for the game's facilitators, so I will wait

i vote Ba3
i also agree with both players on our next moves, except frankly their position is not a loss in my opinion ! they are cramped and bunkered in ! till we come up with solid game changing move !

I agree. I don't see their position as lost. Just unwinnable against decent play.

They are one inaccuracy away from a loss though. No blunder required.

Ba3 gains space

I've always seen space more as "occupied territory" + "territory in your own camp"

Something that is "in addition to" rather than "including" squares controlled by the player.

But I did some reading just now and see you are correct.

space controlled
i used to count space controlled back when i was looking for the correct or best possible move ,and in term of our present game ..we are only up 2 square space controlled (for now)

I believe that the only way to protect Black's R on f8 from the threat of our Ba3 is by the move 22...Nc5. Should we consider 23.b4 to drive the N away ?
ipsissimus
17-Feb-18, 00:31

The continuation will probably be
23...Nc5
24.b4 Ncd2
25.b5

This is best play but I don't care for black's position.

If it continues as I expect.
Then it will probably continue as

23.b4 Ncd7
24.b5 Nc5
25.cxd5 Nxd5

When our move 26 is reached then it becomes more complicated and we may have trouble agreeing on a move but I will try to present a detailed analysis.

There are those on the other team who believe that if they keep their moves secret we will not be able to see what their plan is. The problem with this is that as soon as they play the move I will know what the plan is. There was a time when I could have calculated all of this accurately in a matter of seconds. The problem is that this was a long time ago. I was about 24 years old and near or at GM strength.

They seem to think that their provision will be OK after 22...Nc5. Boy are they mistaken. My analysis shows that with correct play from the person above they will remain in a bad position and these are the best moves. Note that in my first posting the moves were incorrectly numbered. The numbering above is correct.

I frankly consider their opinion that I cannot see what their plan is once they play a move an insult. There are other players here some on this team who can do similar things.
