@Easy-win
Black will not play either Ne5 or Ng4. It is not wise to begin an attack with more than half your army is yet to be touched. This subtlety, distinguishes master class player from all others. Our advantage, lays behind our advanced pawn wall on the queen side and soon strongly placed pieces. Also our forces are going to be superior to black's because they will struggle to make room for their pieces. They are playing for a draw and no more. Whereas, we have winning chances with a possibility of a draw. In other words, it is our game to lose!

ChessBase says but I vote e3
The top three moves are:

Move------------Games-------------Score %-----------Often played by
Bb2--------------1996---------------53.7----------------Fabiano Caruana
a4-----------------765---------------55.8----------------Maxime Vachier- Lagrave, Fabiano Caruana
Nf3----------------425-----------------61----------------Vishy Anand, Vladimir Akopian

I have taken out the last year played field because all these moves were played during 2017.

The e3 move is in the database. It does have a good winning rate of 61% but it's only been played 13 times. This move is liked by GM Faruk Bistric the Macedonian Grandmaster.

In spite of the above data I am nevertheless going to support e3. I have tried to analyze and have come to the conclusion that it is the strongest move.

A4
for some reason i failed again to see the idea behind e3 ? white is looking to place Bishop on b2 which is good to carry on ...also a4 is not bad either black may follow a5 or 0-0 then we place bishop on a3 ..Ne5 was suggested too and also its ok move .

If there are more votes for that, I will change my vote.
It is worth looking into..

We are missing deepthough.

I will move 8.e3.

The below is meant for Easy but might be helpful to others as well:

The purpose of A4 Is to facilitate the exchange of Blacks DSB. The reason we want to do this is because black has weakened his dark squares by placing many pawns on light squares. Note that our Rook would now be available for support if we played Ba3. The disadvantage of this move is that it weakens our own dark squares and specifically the b4 square. Nevertheless if we have an opportunity to exchange Blacks DSB we should. The a4 move also seeks to inhibit a possible black attack on our queen inside which is one of our strengths.

Your comments are invited.

What I saw is that with a4, white could control the a3 squares with
three pieces, the knight, the bishop, and the rook, which is a good
leverage in my opinion.
ipsissimus
18-Dec-17, 00:44

Row has played
8…0-0 this was expected. What we have to keep in mind is that black has a weak square complex on the dark squares. This is because he has placed so many pawns on light colored squares. Our goal then becomes to exchange his DSB which further weakens his dark squares. The move a4 is certainly playable but it creates our own weak square complex on our own dark squares. The square that is especially bad is b4. We have to worry that he may place a Knight on this square by playing Na6. We would then be able to dislodge the knight by exchanging our own DSB for his Knight and the advantage from all this would go to black. My opinion is that the a4 move should be delayed for now.

The moves that are most often played (ChessBase) are 9.Bb2 and also 9.a4. There are not many instances of these moves and we will soon be out of the book. GM Faruk Bistric who has played this line more than anyone else likes 9.Nc3.

The current position is:

Whitr to move.
