On my way to Charleston SC for a wedding this weekend. Plan to visit Fort Sumter, will there be any confederate flags around? Or have the politicians got them all ?

Here in The Land Of The Easily Offended, I am amazed at how issues are selected to complain about.
The Confederate flag is one example. I can understand why some people dislike it & others don't want to let it go. What I don't understand is why everyone is supposed to agree on every issue. That is never going to happen. Just let it go & quit paying so much attention to it. To me it's just another flag but to others it represents a lot more.
Another example is the infamous "N-word". I'm the captain of a pool team consisting of 8 players, two of whom are black. They call each other that word all night long & they sing along with their crappy hip hop music with the same word over & over. Yet if I was to utter it one time out of my white mouth it would be a big deal & I would be labeled a racist bastard.
Now that there are individual idiots who think it's a good idea to kill a lot of strangers with a gun we have a president who thinks nobody should own guns. I don't own one but I think I should be able to if I wanted one. There's a long history of bad things happening when the average person can't own a gun (Hitler, etc., used that to cause much greater harm than they could have if the citizens were able to defend themselves).

I want a gun
I want to take classes and get a conceal carry permit. I probably won't carry, but I want to have that choice.
Guns scare me and they shouldn't. That's why I need training.
It's on my to do list.

To be clear, our president doesn't want to take everyone's guns. He only wants reasonable gun restrictions. Like, we already have a rule that the average citizen can't own a nuclear bomb. But you can still get dynamite. What he says is like that. You can still have a gun. You just can't have an automatic 0.50 cal. Or an automatic rifle with extended clip.
Now, that would be fun to shoot at the range. And you could still probably pay to shoot one. You just can't take it home with you.

While visiting Charleston,SC we went by the church where the church members were murdered. There is still a lot of flowers and wreaths outside and a lot of visitors.

Today, January 20th is Penguin Awareness Day, be sure and celebrate this great holiday. I wonder why the schools and post office aren't closed. How cool on Penguin Awareness Day they are predicting snow. This penguin is going to enjoy this wonderful holiday. A great day to all.
