Winter Storm Jonas
Yes, this is the storm that everyone's talking about which I even noted in the WTWLTR club. I was intending to annotate a game today. But, although many have lucked, I have not. On the other hand, I dodged the bullet as it won't be blizzard with a foot or more of snow. The forecast for my area is 5-10 inches of snow with 45 mph wind gusts. I've, already, had to shovel 3-4 inches, and it took me, about, an hour to do so. Consequently, I did not have time today. However, further south, they're getting a blizzard. Mother nature knows how to cause problems. That's my model, yet you just have to respect their power. Life could be even worse then a blizzard, such as, when Super Storm Sandy came knocking on my door.

I'm actually on now. I figured that I had to work today and have a jeep made for that. Where I am, they, generally, don't close early. But, they did, today. And, I was told not to come in by management, so I'll be in tomorrow, instead. Thanks John.

Update
I had, at least, a foot of snow. It was between 12-13 inches. But, it's all shoveled up and a down deal. Plus, I'm going back to work later today to make up hours.

Make up hours? Lol. I do believe that if a foot of snow fell on any Australian city we'd knock off for the week, if not the rest of the month!   I don't know about your jeep but I know my Pajero is only in true 4wd mode if in diff lock (4H-lock) at which point you are restricted to 60km/h or less otherwise you'll blow your diff. There's no metropolitan condition in Oz that would require 4H-lock, (well, except perhaps for the tropical cities in the wet) I swing into 4H once a week to keep the oil on the front diff circulating and generally, in Melbourne, regardless of the season, it will rain once a week, so I can match transmission to conditions.

Really, 4wds are designed for bush bashing in mud or sand at speeds of 50km/h or less, whilst mowing down any roo stupid enough not to get out of the way, that's my main off road usage of the Paj!   Heading back to the country this weekend so looking forward to reverting to type.

Anyway I wouldn't be too cocksure of cruising round at 90 mph in, at best, an all-wheel-drive setting, even with snow tyres. I guess you lot have no choice given snow is your environment for 3 months of the year. Other than to take leave, come down to Oz for 3mths and pick up some seasonal work!

Ah. A Landy! A REAL 4wd! I love my Paj and I'd take it anywhere during the Dry, it LOVES the sand....but if I had to cross a swollen river in the Wet, I'd do it in a Landy. Snow be damned you could whack a cattle-catcher on the front and call yourself Mr Plough!
