Going to try a new Easter egg hunt for my 3 yr. Old grandson. He has to retrieve the eggs in the yard and exchange them for little gifts based on color, size, and amount. We will see how it goes. 😂

Honestly, the only thing I truly miss about being a catholic is the liturgical calendar. It was very comforting to have the whole year all laid out. I guess I could still follow the calendar.

It is thought that many holidays are based upon
celestial movements. Some evidence indicates that
Christ may have been born in the summer. The date of
Christmas has, perhaps, the greatest significance of the
year; in that, it is aproximately the shortest day of the year,
at the point where the days get longer. Hence, it is the
begining of the solar year.

Easter is a time of rebirth, where the Spring season
gets underway in the Northern Hemisphere.

Religion in many cases mimics the natural order.
As such, one need not follow a religion to celebrate.

My Easter isn't until May 1st....I am Orthodox! The one good thing about it is we can buy Easter goodies at least 1/2 price next week! lol

I wish all those celebrating this weekend a Happy Easter and stay safe!

Is that because your Church works according to the Julian calendar? I am asking because the Orthodox Church is quite active in Finland and Easter is celebrated now.

Yes, our Church works according to the Julian calendar year round.

Dang it, it's been a whole year and I forgot to follow the liturgical calendar.

It does not matter, pawny, it seems that even within the same Church they follow different calendars. The Orthodox Church in Finland celebrates Easter right now following the Gregorian calendar.
