Labor day wall of death game....against a strong playerNow,here we go again! My opponent,is not some weak dude i'm playing here!A class "A" player is just below expert. So,this strong player STILL managed to get lost in my wall of death and was in a mate in 4 before move # 31.His Rook control and development of those pieces, including his own pawn advancements showed no signs of the proper theory that a class "A"player should have under his belt...even in a 5 minute game.I have played this opponent many times before and have even won against him in a Q sacrifice game.I'll have to dig that one up sometime, when I have the time to look.My opinion is that this player should really STAY OUT of the blitz room,it may very well be degrading his play in his long corresp games. For,if he plays even close to how he plays in blitz as he is playing in his regular GK games,he has become a victim of blitz hypnosis.Just a theory of mine. And what do I know about theory and chess psychology?Hmmmmm...take a wild guess! Position after whites move #7: Now,your telling me that an almost 1900 rated player cannot see directly through my wall of death weakness and throw me into a lava pit?Trust me,if I was on the other side of the board,I could easily destroy white!I'll have to show those interested how I do it sometime.I'm not in the habit, however,of giving "all"of my blitz secrets away! Don't get mad at my custom "Wall of Death" game....[Event "GameKnot Blitz"] [Date "2017.01.25"] [Round "-"]5 min, zero increment [White "tactical-abyss"]2350+ [Black "dontbmad"]1200 [Result "1-0"]Mate 1. a3 g6 2. b3 Bg7 3. c3 b6 4. d3 Bb7 5. e3 d6 6. f3 Nf6 7. g3 Nc6 8. h3 Qd7 9. Kh1 Bxe3 33. bxa8=Q# 1-0 chesstempo.com The players name above is dontbmad.I'm never mad at my blitz players game, but they may get mad at me playing such "mad"openings!Good!!!!!Then I have won out in a psychological way to upset their game(hopefully and possibly)which is the case many times!Chess is more than moves.Sometimes when I do things like my reverse Alekhine(see my other post on that),My Q sacs and here...my "Wall Of Death",this alters the perception of how their opponent is "supposed to"respond in a game.I'm supposed to(in their mind)play according to regular standard moves....e5,e4 or d4,d5 or some other mainline moves. And if I do strange things like the wall of death or my reverse alk or my Q sac...then I am not playing "normal"and should be ashamed of myself!!!!!Yes,this is what I must put up with in the blitz arena message board!!! This is all a subconscious fear of the unknown and because I moved out of their established norm of thinking. This gives them an "excuse"if they lose to my abnormal moves!Ha ha...hogwash.And this is why some players never get better at chess! They get "stuck"in that frame of thought that adheres to their faulty law and way of thinking that "I must"play in their trained way of thinking,or else I should not be playing chess!Quadruple hogwash!!! Again, all faulty thinking and extreme hogwash!I play as I choose and as long as the moves are legal(which they have to be or else the move generator will not accept the move)then you WILL PLAY against anything I do...no matter HOW MUCH you dislike it!!!!And if not, then leave the game with your tail between your legs! And then I win when you leave after the game has begun in blitz.Still my psychological win even if you leave!See????I win either way and you leave like a child throwing a small temper tantrum!Good!!!!Excellent!!!!Come again and I will do the same thing to you again and again!!!!Learn to overcome, not be like a tempered child!!!! But all this is besides the point. If you cannot win against these so called weaker opening moves, then you must find out what the heck you are doing wrong,no matter what your rating is!Be smart, not emotional!!!Else players like me and my strength will "prey"on you forever! Game position after move #8(h3,Qd7): My famous wall of death....prepare! If you do not know how to counterattack properly, then you will shortly receive a pawn storm coming at you like a blizzard in Antarctica! Move #18 below with 18.Qa6 clearly illustrates my pawn storm advancement into enemy territory!: Later by move #30,my opponent is frantic and tries the "all in" gamble with the chips counter attack. So close he thinks to mating me.Yet,so far....must be heartbreaking! Move #30.Kh2: Later, miscalculated pawn exchanges, over compensated Knights that are now under my attack and more(like tempo loss)simply lead to the "A" file becoming wide open and the end result of a devastating demise below with a pawn promotion and double Q!: (there is more to it than that, but i'm tired today...you figure it out!) So,another wall of death win.Such a weak opening, right? It sure is weak IF you know how to counter it!If you have no good idea, then you might as well try to beat your way out of a titanium steel box 10 feet thick on all sides with no windows,no light,no air,no water,no food,no tools,no bombs and no one to help you out of there. All you have is your fists, hands and head to bang against the 10 foot thick walls. And that my readers is the chance YOU have against my wall...unless you study and find out the answers in theory and practice how to place ME in that titanium box!!!!Not done often, but i'm happy when you do!It makes me happy that someone has learned something!!! In the meantime, the famous "Wall Of Death" lives on,at least in the blitz room!I know I have one or two regular correp games(GK)with this wall against higher rated than this players somewhere but it was under a different handle name and I do not have the energy right now to find them.Just take my word for it!And yes, they BOTH lost to the Wall!Would you automatically win, even if your rating is 1800?Perhaps,but do not stake your life on it!Else i'll have to place you in that titanium box!Ha ha! In all seriousness,if you want to learn how to overcome this wall(or a few ways) we can go through the game above and dissect it!It is usually more than just one move, but the first bad move from my opponent usually starts the snow storm coming their way!All can be avoided, however, with more careful play!!! |

Tear down that wall....Irishman![Date "2017.01.26"] [Round "-"]5 min zero increment [White "kilmeedy"]1777 [Black "tactical-abyss"]2360 [Result "0-1"]Mate 1. e4 h6 2. d4 g6 3. c4 f6 4. Atypical wall setup, move #10...Bg7,along with my Knight covering my g6 pawn just in case white moves his e4 pawn to attempt more central control. And adding in my Fianchetto placed Bishop to place pressure on whites d4 pawn just incase white decides to move his Knight: Hmmmm.Lets see here.He tried to copycat my wall in partiality(above diagram) with pawns on e,d,c and b all on the 4th rank.Accurate pawn exchanges with a 1777 player usually do not amount to much,so I exchanged with much more dark/light square control with my Bishops, after opening up the center a bit.My Rooks on the 8th rank are visibly more open with full value as opposed to whites Rooks on the f and g files(diagram below).Especially whites f Rook....which was forked with his King for mate backed up by my dominating dark squared Bishop on c5: Mate in 27 moves.....wall crushes my opponent as thin as a sheer nylon stocking. See,these pawn walls(or the wall of death as I like to humorously say)are partially a psychological anomaly that projects a line of pawns that most players have never seen in a game against themselves before and it leads to confusion with chess patterns that they have no experience with. And of course, this confusion is magnified in fast blitz!Forget the theory, theory means little if they are bewildered from the beginning of the game.Imagine trying to attack this wall with your pawns. Will you know which one or "ones"to attack? What if you attack and my pawn does NOT exchange but pushes forward one more square, for more of a squeeze control zone down the file close and closer into your territory? Now what, retreat?Attack more?Do you have an exact recipe of overcoming my wall? Most players, even 2000 rated and some 2100 rated think they know, but do not anticipate my "other"quick pattern shifts with Bishops or flank Knights that suddenly appear out of nowhere! So,its not as easy as it looks to "tear down that wall" as Reagan told the Soviet Union to dismantle the wall in East Germany....the Berlin Wall. By the way,did you see my post on the Berlin wall(chess)and how I destroyed a master at the Berlin defense?Just a side note! Another side note:I once had all my pawns on the 4th rank instead of the 3rd.That is another thread! More to come, enjoy!I love games of psychology, even if "underneath"I do realize that they are weaker openings! The fun comes from defeating players with the strange, unusual and unknown! So,my strange openings may be classified as weak, but does "weak"really matter if players are losing to these openings and opening defenses? An opening or opening defense is only as "weak"as you permit it to be!!!!A thin plastic large body bag may be weak, but that does not mean that an ant, mouse or a man under the influence can tear his way out of that bag guaranteed, now does it?The man may grab at the bag in the wrong way and pull it into his face even farther suffocating himself.Same with my pawn wall! So again,my moves become an "illusion of weakness"only until you as a 1200-2000 rated player rip your way out of that bag or knock down my wall of death! And in the meantime, you must put up with my "gallows humor",like it or NOT!
