TA's newest Queen sacrifice blitz games for 2015I have a question for my critics.Do you honestly think that YOU could do nearly as well as me playing a Queen sacrifice and win like I do,simply because your opponent is say,400 points below you in rating?Or if your, for example,a 2000 rated, that you would simply defeat any 1500-1600 player in blitz sacrificing your Queen on move # 3 ???????????????????? I seriously doubt it.It took me decades of honing my skills to do these things. You critics talk big,but usually cannot back them up like me!Talk is cheap, but my actions prove otherwise. You try it if you think your so good! You will win once in a while, but not in the quantities I spit out! I guarantee it! First of all,I have no control over who I play in the blitz room, not on GK anyway, other sites yes....where you can select your opponent by rating parameters.Next, yes, many or most of my opponents are lesser rated than me,but so is 99% of all the opponents on GK rated less than me when I am finally up to my 2500 rating again! And finally, giving up my Q on move #3 kind of MORE than evens the playing field, now dosen't it critics?Especially with players north of 1800!Some would say north of 1500,but that is relative.Hey,8 or 9 point lead on move #3?????And that is not giving you enough of a level playing field to kill me even if you are 1400 rated????So you "mouths" that say this and that about me....zip it!!!Come on now, 8 or 9 point lead for those guys on move #3?!But as you can easily check out many of my Q sac wins are against players as high as 2300-2400!!!!Not possible you are thinking?Think again! The proof is in that old Q sac game link in the other post!!!!!Check it out anytime!I command you! There is a host of 1800 to 2000 rated wins as well!Plus, and as I said before, blitz is not all about mating your opponent,it is about TIMING-OUT your opponent as well.Just as good in my book for blitz anyway. In addition many of those so called 1200 rated opponents are not actually 1200 rated!!!Some are very high in strength(I can tell and I lost from a good handful!).This is due to the fact that some 1200 rated remain on GK to just play blitz and do not play any long correspondence games here,so then they do not get an official rating.I know personally of 2 or 3 -1200 rated that are at least 2100-2200 in actual playing strength.I can tell from the tactics and strategy they use against me! So,I will post as I play with my usual gallows humor in this thread.Don't mind my jokes in this thread, its my alter ego when I play and win being a Queen down. You have no idea how hard it is to win sometimes, regardless of my opponents rating strength!Got that critics of mine? These blitz games are really an open lesson in how some players are overconfident in their play, and how they lack positional moves in the opening play, tactics, not exchanging pieces when they should and a host of other things. You may not believe this, but many times the way an opponent plays in blitz gives a pattern of how they play in a long correspondence game! Some of the weakness's they have are simply magnified in blitz when they come across TA! So,enjoy some of these gems or talk crap about me for trying to take advantage of the lesser rated, but see,i'm ripping off both of my arms and only fighting with my legs when I hand the less rated my Queen! If that is not fair, then I don't know what is?Sacrifice both my Rooks and my Queen?Come on now!!!!Where would it end?Ridiculous. So there are things to learn here and yes,it is a fair blitz game to the lesser rated given the fact I am severely handicapping myself!!!!!See? Now on with the bloodbath!Prepare to gasp on occasion or laugh yourself into a frenzy so hard that you will foam from the mouth! PGN board links...important! When viewing any of my Q sac games, you may want to use one of the PGN game links below to plug in the game and then create diagrams of various key positions as the game progress's.Might make for a better visual read and learning experience. You may have to erase the 1-0 or possibly the # at the end of the game when you copy and before you paste into one of the viewers below.(Sometimes I forget to remove the win symbols). chesstempo.com www.365chess.com www.chess.com |

Joseph, meet Joe your guide into the "Mangling Rooks" of death! This game is more than fair for my opponent,1200 or most any rating. And do not forget what I said about those 1200 rated above! In fact,I killed my Q in an even weaker ploy than my other styles of play,by taking my opponents h7 pawn!Normally I take my opponents f7 pawn and then he is forced to take my Q with his King. There is a hidden value in taking his f7 pawn!First of all as you may have read in my other post, the f7 pawn and the f7 square is one of the weakest squares on the chess board. And when he moves his King to capture,he then is ALSO forced to give up his castling rights as the game progress's.I will prey on this theme,BUT this game is an exception.I will seek out the slightest weakness,my opponent has and rip it wide open, but not this game because I took his h7 pawn, not his f7 pawn.Starting to get my strategy readers? But in this game...my "strategy" is so weak, its the equivalent of trying to place a washing machine on a plain wooden toothpick and balancing it without breaking it! But I succeed! Too tired right now to rip apart this game to annotate a bit like I usually do.I will in future games!I just wanted to post at least one game tonight.Part of my opponents opening problem,as you may observe,is his random pawn moves early in the game.Even opening up that c6 pawn on move #5 to leave room for his Queen should have been delayed.By move #26 my opponent is already exposing his Queen to attack and then his blunder on move #32 begins his serious demise. Once his Q is gone, the ranks and files of my connected Rooks do a perfect bowling ball dance till strike! Hope you enjoyed this first game.Better ones coming! Recopied response from Jkarp:"In fact, this is a similar but it happened a while back. For those that are wondering, I used to argue that losing your Q meant a loss, if I felt that it was no good reason. But, with this game, I know otherwise and it resulted in a game against easy19, where I lost during the endgame, despite starting a Q up." gameknot.com |

Oh,let me add something to my "critics"There is many hidden things going on in a 3 or 5 minute blitz game! Some of you players see a game above like with joseph82501(1200 rated) and say...."see that opponent of yours simply blundered that Q,so he played like total crap, its no wonder you won that easy game!I could do the same!" Unquote. No,not necessarily!Think again! Well, those are words from inexperienced blitz know it all's!They view many of my games through the eye's of mainly a long correspondence chess view, where someone has days to look over a position.Of course, the same error would probably not have occurred with my opponent above if he had 3 days to look the board over! But you cannot compare long corresp to blitz, that would be your first mistake! But there is an even deeper thing going on in my blitz games.See,its many times what leads up to his error(s) or blunders that is the ROOT of his errors and/or blunders in the first place!!!!!!!!!!!!I place a tremendous degree of experienced pressure and complexity on my opponents, squeeze THEIR pieces, engage multiple ex-ray attacks, pawn storms and much more....this many times(regardless of rating)throws his brain into a frenzy, longer think state and even a brain freeze! Then I mount the pressure even MORE!Many times the result is that their clock has run down considerably and when that happens......MORE ERRORS AND BLUNDERS OCCUR on my opponents side due to time running out for them!!!!!!!So critics, there is much more going on in my blitz games than meets the eye!!!!!!You see a blunder or error or trap on some move #30 from some,say,1700+player that you are saying to yourself(as mainly a corresp player)..."I would never have done a stupid move like that!"......but you could easily be wrong under the circumstances based upon WHAT LED UP TO THAT MOVE #30 AND THE STRATEGY,PRESSURES,PLOYS AND OTHER SECRET TACTICAL METHODS EMPLOYED THAT I USE LEADING UP TO THAT 1700 RATED PLAYERS MOVE#30. Well,i'm done attempting to explain some of these things to either critics or scoffers. Let the games begin!Better and more to come soon! In the meantime, you can always check my other Q sac post out, lurking in my club list somewhere! |

Yes,blitz is not for everyone and in some cases it can be harmful to a 1400 player. This guy should NOT play blitz at all(or very little),and concentrate at getting better in the long time control games.I noticed that in 2 years he has only played 107 games which indicates a pattern that he is probably hanging around the blitz room way too much with vultures like me.Its interesting to note that he had slowed down so much in 3 spots in our game, that I actually had time to click on his name and look at his profile as such....checking how long he has been on GK,the amount of games under his belt and where he is from!Even these facts, can show me how to play against this dude!Sounds odd,but if I seen he was from Russia and he had about 2000 games under his belt(corresp),I would have probably played more seriously. |

Kb4 1-0 chesstempo.com Borishurgin,a nearly 1900 rated player has an abundance of positional errors in theory right out of the opening few moves, including simply bring out his Queen to start(mistake),then placing his Q in front of his exposed King on move #7,then allowing my amazing Knight fork on move # 10....which almost equalized the game within 2 pawn values by move #11.Technically,the game was over already by move # 10 in my book!Feel free to add your own comments if you like in the meantime.Notice his pawn moves in the opening 4....d5.This is not controlling the center, its only giving me more material.A common mistake that players make in my Q sac games.I spot the pattern immediately and know the game will usually end up in my favor, just from that pawn thrust move alone on blacks side.Boris was in a mating net and in serious trouble(as he knew),so he resigned early before mate and scurried away quickly.I have a game in my Q sac thread somewhere else where I beat Boris before.Perhaps it is similar,I have not checked yet. So what is the lesson here? There seems to be a serious lack of tactics with Boris, but even more so,a weak positional strategy with things like Q thrust moves early on and doubled pawns by mid game on the g file that were open to attack and needed to be supported...and were not.Theory dictates that doubled pawns in the opening like in some Ruy games and some Trompowski Attack games either diminish the pawn value combination only fractionally or not at all.But in mid and endgame, doubled pawns are more open to attack, especially if centralized or on b or g files. This is magnified if the opposing side has a pawn majority(as I did) on my Kings side that can be utilized as an exchange, file opener to blacks King,ex-ray or P=Q on the 8th rank promotion. Sure, mistakes happen in 5 minutes. But technically, that should not matter in just the first few moves of this game.Boris's "pattern"of erratic and weaker moves proves he needs to buckle down on just some of the simpler areas of opening theory. For even if the game was a 2 minute game with zero increment(like on some other chess sites),his early Q moves and pawn thrusts should not have occurred, especially for a nearly 1900 rated player. So,even in blitz games as opposed to the long corresp games, some of these same positional strategy moves ARE mirrored and carried over the same way in games with longer time controls. So the "excuse"..."well,I would not have made those errors if I had 3 days to think about the moves"is not always a valid statement!I have gone into many a players long games and still see the same or similar pattern of tactical and positional weakness errors being made in games with long time controls.I have no doubt that if I took the time to look over a hundred or two hundred of Boris's long games, that I would discover similar mistakes. But I have no time for that.I have seen it many times before, however. So that is the mini lesson.Sometimes, how you react in the first few moves of a blitz game is a strong indication of how you may very well perform in a long game.At the very least it becomes an open book at where you failed to read the book of theory completely and missed a few chapters! So,are there things to learn from these quick Q sacrifice games of mine? You bet there is. I give you my Q on move # 3 and capture only one compensation pawn in return, and they begin to lose in just a few moves in the opening as Boris did above? This should NOT be!!!! I should be destroyed much easier!Just by playing defensively and/or even exchanging the major pieces is enough in the 101 theory dept to stomp on me.When you become too aggressive in the opening against a very strong player who sets up "booby traps" all over the place, you are inviting yourself to fall into my abyss. Just some additional notes with the blitz game above... Interesting enough,I can remember in 8th grade being around 1500-1600 in rating.I knew even as far back then after reading a few of Walter Korns footnotes that leaving your K strutting around wide open files is suicide.Maintaining some pawn protection is most often key.The exception being when most of the major pieces are off the board(unlike the game above). Then, the "opposite"many times SHOULD occur....whereas the King should become more active and begin aggressive attack movements, even in wide open unprotected space(many times). So many players fail at this,I cannot count on a calculator!Even 1800 rated players create way too many open files as well as lack the know how to King shuttle properly in the endgame with scant pieces left on the board.Or they know how to K shuttle, but "delayed"the movement way way too long, losing tempo and initiative....costing them the game.I must delve into the "timing factor"one day in the club to test players knowledge on this issue. But even if "I"was 1505 rated,I guarantee that I would NOT have left my files open like that!I remember exactly how I played back then and have the scoresheets yet.So are all 1505 rated players created equal?Absolutely not!Too many players use the rating number in what I call a "chess cliche" and blame this and that position/blunder ect ect ect ect on a rating number.A 1505 player may be weaker in some areas, but to point the finger "automatically"on,for example,a fact of "open files"every time it occurs is due to my opponents 1500+rating is absurd thinking.I can show you games of many 1000 rated players who know better! Chess theory must be consistently learned, utilized, remembered, practiced and burned into your "id".Even in 5 minute games, those same theories learned should surface from your subconscious memory to your active conscious memory instantly in the form of pattern recognition. If not, then at least in your long corresp games. |

Follow me into gloomy dessert, then battle my elephants....Ever hear the statement...."retreat is not an option"? Well,in my case retreat with my forces(as you can see if you go through many of the early moves)happens time and time again. The purpose is to stretch my opponents knowledge of theory to the limit, stretch his forces out,let him become the aggressor while I seek out the slightest weakness, then turn around and destroy.Like leading an army into the desert, dwindling their resources of water, food, strength, patience, ego, overconfidence, pride and overall good spirits and turn all of that against them when I turn and face that army later on in the game.Lots of tombstones in that dessert, most are not mine. That Q of mine did this opponent no good sacrificed on move #3,although I give him good credit for trying harder than many other players. He did quite well considering his rating.57 moves against me using my advanced duck and weave tactics(even with my Q sac) is worth honorable mention,so I put it in my club thread. raallmighty may want to change his handle name...No"might"in the blitz game below for another 1800+player here. And my Q sac is of the weaker type, sacing my opponents h7 pawn, not an f7 pawn in this game. So,I get really no positional micro advantage at all.Well, not immediately anyway! Now how do I begin to equalize?Hmmmm...lets try a Knight pin on move #17!Then follow up with a nice pawn capture on move #20.....a potential Rook sacrifice, with poison. If my opponent takes the beckoning poisoned Rook in this fast paced game(and my opponent is already down over 60 seconds now),then I would be able to fork his K and Q and capture his Queen. He does not fall for it.Hmmmm.Well,then what next?Move's #21-23(ex-ray)on his King and Bishop(note the theory of a Rook on the 7th rank!)...leading to more points being taken back,a pawn and a Bishop. In the end and by move #24 I had exactly 2:35 minutes left and my opponent had 0:13 seconds left in the game.He resigned rather than time-out,and I commend him for that and he mentioned..."well done, way better and very well".If you count up the piece values in the end of the game,my opponent has a total of 22 points and I have 20 point values.Only a difference of 2 points. But as hard as it is to believe...my position on the board with the pawn structure control, connected Knights, more powerful Bishop, less powerful Knight of my opponent with advancing restrictions and the increased safety of my King as opposed to my opponents King resting on that more open g file,my 7th rank powerful Rook and my opponents loss of initiative with his unused Rook on a8=EQUALITY!!!!!Yes,even with that 2 point advantage and transferring the game over from move #24,into a long corresp game...I would not fear losing from that position, even being 2 points down.Drawing yes at the worse case scenario, but not losing.Proof?Any time grasshopper!I always put my money where my mouth is!!!(But only after a critical analysis!) PGN board transfer reminder....That chesstempo link that I post along with many of my blitz games makes it incredibly easy to view the blitz game move for move on a nice chess board. All you do is copy the game from any of my blitz games using your mouse and then paste the game into the PGN box in that chesstempo board link. Then click on any move in that new move list and you can analyze along side my comments, including my destructo gallows humor chat.Even in my "humor"there is always an embedded message of instructive and constructive teaching lessons!May not appear that way,but it is my way of telling my opponents and YOU to wake up and smell the coffee!Overconfidence is abundant in the blitz rooms, and I tend to vaporize those psychological thrilling moments that my opponents have when they think or write in the chat area...."I got you TA,your mine with your foolish, dumb Q sacrifice move!" Really? What stinky and crummy bathroom stall did you read that from?In the subway train station at midnight in NYC?Ha,ha! TA |

Last blitz lesson for this evening: Never feel bad for "my"silly moves, try to equalize by making foolish moves on purpose or play dumb against me on purpose, trying to "mirror me"and even attempt to do what I do!I can get away with that in my vast experiences, but a 1533 rated player?Don't even try.Just play to kill me fast, not fool around and get flattened to less than the diameter of a quark in just a few moves!!!!! I'm not going to annotate this game.Just take a look(if you desire)at my opponent playing a King shuttling game all the way down to g8 on my side where I mated him in 15 moves. After his loss,he shuttled away from my board much faster than his King moves on my board. Is there anything smaller than a quark?Ill have to investigate that after a few martinis! I think my opponent above just thought that I was simply fooling around as a joke. No,i'm as serious and concentrative as a cruise missile tuned to be on target precisely. You are committing sextuple suicide if you plan to move your King into my territory, unless there is only a scant amount of pieces left on the board.Your survival rate would be the equivalent of standing in the middle of a small high school football field while 1000 B-52's dropped 180 million laser guided heavy titanium regulation sized bowling balls directly down on you from 50,000 feet altitude and you had to remain perfectly still.Ha,ha!Good luck!!! |
