Big banks
Are any of the other metal gods tired of the big banks? I am and am switching to a credit union next week. Tired of being put on hold, rerouted and explaining the same problem four times to four different people with no results. I've been dealing with an ongoing issue with a company that keeps billing my credit card on a monthly basis. I've told my bank that I have NO recurring payments with this company and they told me to settle it with the company charging me these recurring payments. I told bank I have no account to access to do so. They again told me to take it up with the company. So, I cancelled the credit card, stating that I lost it. I told bank I did not want another replacement card and I was switching providers. That did nothing to alleviate the problem. I was charged AGAIN on a cancelled card. Called bank, they told me to take it up with company and they CAN keep charging my card even though it's cancelled. It took an hour and five different people to give me this news. I'm officially done with the big banks.

Worth noting: the bank was the credit card issuer and they do nothing to protect the consumer. Now I'm out as a credit card customer and a banking customer. The company screwing me was Verizon. I finally got ahold of them and found out about the charges. Years ago, I had an iPad and bought monthly data. NEVER on a recurring payment basis. I knew it was time to buy more data when it stopped working. They've been naling me for the past two years and I only recently was alerted as I finally took a look at my bill. I have two authorized recurring payments to a cc: gameknot & my car insurance company. That's it. Moral: pay attention to your bills.

In other news, I'm on about a month of dating the same girl with regularity which means we are getting past the point where all we do is have sex and now actually communicate. This morning we were on my couch and she was repeating a work-story she told me a few days ago. I was nodding and finally got up and walked to the kitchen saying "I can still hear you baby." I thought I was gonna get a quick verbal break but she followed me in the kitchen and continued...

Try USAA. Anyone can bank with them. Lot's of cool shit... you can deposit checks (up to 10K) and the funds are there immediately. If you have a kid you can have account for them, you can instantly move money over. All ATM fees are covered (other bank fees). All free. Checkit

Thanks Frank. I'm done with big conglomerate banks. A coworker repeated to me what you just stated, yesterday. Monday morning, I begin making the transition.

You are not eligible to bank with USAA if your grandmother is a silver spoon trust fund baby from the Hamptons.
