Folk Music
I looooooooooove it. Some of my favorites that I can play an entire collection w/out skipping songs: Gordon Lightfoot (the very best of the best) John Denver (one of the only tragic celebrity deaths that touched me greatly... I dare you to find a better tune than Annie's Song.) Jim Croce (can't beat the songs Operator or I Got A Name) Arlo Guthrie ("I don't want a pickle, I just wanna ride my motorsickle")

I'll never forget one year we were on a ski trip in Vermont at Killington Mountain. Me and one dad's buddies were talking about the voice of Karen Carpenter. My father intervened and said "What! You two fairies like that music?!" The musical spectrum of my dad is about one-half inch long. "If it ain't The Who, eff you," is basically how he thinks.

It's weird. My dad, that is. A difficult man to decipher. He grew up in the lap-of-luxury in upstate NY. Both of his parents had masters degrees and came from wealth. His dad (my grandfather) was the mayor and school principal then superintendent. Yet, all four of their children were encouraged to join the military and play sports. I had no pressure to succeed academically but was expected to fight... and win. This is another story. And a long one.

Whenever my dad really annoys me, I say "Yeah, ok rich boy." Nothing makes him more pissed and he knows it's true and starts talking about his journey. His mom (I can't refer to her as grandma) is still alive and sitting on her stocks. She is THE MOST stuck-up bitch I've ever met. Awful person. She's all about cash and her snobbish education. A far, far cry from my blue-collar maternal grandmother. She's gonna live to be 120, which is the family fear.

My blue-collar grandma summed her up for me. She said, "Jack. When you get old, you get-back what you gave." That made me feel slightly better about how I ignore my paternal monster grandma.

I give Henny permission to kill her.

She's a horrible person, for real. My parents got divorced when I was 7. They remarried a few years ago, though. However, when they were divorced, she ceased to acknowledge me or my brothers. She's a monster. There is no love. She's in an expensive nursing home @ $15,000 a month, coming from her nasty stock funds. NOBODY wants her and they simply cut checks from her accounts. By the way, there is no golden parachute awaiting me when she dies.

It's just too gay No I can deal with some. I've seen James Taylor like 5 times... He is freaking awesome and even more so live. Dude is funny as hell. Is he 'Folk'? And he's from down the road - 30 miles. I can listen to classical, SOME pop if its obviously good (PSY's song comes to mind) and OLD country. New country is like bad pop about trucks. Too easy Like good RAP! Cypruss Hill going now, Public Enemy, NWA, Run DMC
