The Crucifixion
Although certainly the most famous, Christ wasn’t the only soul to suffer crucifixion. The Romans used crucifixion extensively and it was not uncommon to see hundreds of crucifieds adorning Roman roads.

Man has creatively developed far more gruesome methods for eliminating the opposition throughout the centuries --- flaying, disembowelment and creative installments of poles/spears, which extended one’s suffering time, were all fun to see and experience.

It somehow seems gruesome in today’s world of high standards of morality and technology --- Man now has death-tools that can near-instantly rearrange ones atoms and elementary particles ---but the Koran’s single commanded method for removing one’s head is among the most humane of all.

Interesting article, sir, made me shiver in horror reading these methods. I did not know that flaying and disembowelment existed as methods of punishment, shocking.. Gruesome history of mankind's sin to kill it is..

It's a sin to kill..

You mentioned of beheading is among the most humane; I agree only if this is done in a single blow and now with a blunt knife..

Beheading was swift and humane for the 600 AD era.

Pain and suffering was dependent on the intent and skill of the assigned performer, the skill of the Smither and the quality/design of the blade.

Alas: One would need to experience the blade's touch to know the truth.

Just terrifying only to think about it.
