Tactics Personally, I think improving my tactical ability is most important. If I play brilliant strategic moves, but then lose a piece, the game is lost anyway. And by tactics, I don't mean just attacking moves, but defense as well. In grandmaster games, most of the tactics that the players analyze, never show on the board, because both players recognize the tactical possibilities, and don't allow their opponent to take advantage of those opportunities. |
