Who is Isaac? Is pawntificator's name Isaac, and not Winslow?
saintinsanity

That's right. I don't like to use my named name because of the internet and all, but some people already know my name and they don't mind exposing my true identity to the world.

It doesn't really matter though, since I don't have any money or power.

"He who is often rebuked and hardens his neck, will suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedY"

Not my favorite, but the first one upon opening the book.

I, unfortunately, exposed my true first and last name on the Team Captains' Club by posting a message to and response from GameKnot.

Surely there is more than one "Isaac" in the great state of Indiana.

Not saying there are many...

And if I ever run across a Bernie Sanders' supporter named Isaac next time I'm in Indiana, I'll buy you a beer. But only one. And the next three rounds will be on you πŸ‘

Where's that verse from, Pawny?

I looked up my name on facebook and there are like twelve of me. I don't get it.

Oh, that's proverbs again. I forget the number. Every time I randomly open the bible it seems I hit proverbs.

You ought to spend some time in the New Testament.

Too much 🌩In the OT

Both are very relevant for today, especially the Book of Daniel.

I've read it all.

"Therefore we wanted to come to you, even I, Paul, time and again. But Satan hindered us."

Depends on what you mean by satan, in my opinion.

The Holy Bible is one of those books that can be read again and again

Satan has no power but that which God allows him. That's pretty clear from Job.

Anne Rice is good for at least 3 reads.

Have you seen her Memnoch the Devil? compelling.

And her story of Jesus is immersive.

There is a very interesting verse in Daniel. Gabriel saying that Michael, Prince of the Host, being hindered from coming to the aid of Gabriel, by Satan. But Satan is referred to in that verse as The Prince of Persia. I would have to look that up to make sure I have it correct.
saintinsanity

Sounds like a bit of pop culture might have slipped in there.

I will find it and post it for you.   It could be difficult for you to believe, that's for sure. I'm fairly certain it is in Daniel, and not Revelation.
saintinsanity
28-Nov-16, 21:34

I'd like to read it.

But I wasn't even talking about modern pop-culture, I meant from back then.

They still had stories that spread like wildfire.

Revelation is bizarre.

Can you believe that the Archangel Michael is the pre incarnate Christ, Captain of the Host?
saintinsanity
28-Nov-16, 21:39

I can't believe that personally, but I'd love to see where it says that.

You must know right now that i am not trying to deceive you and i don't believe that the bible is the only truth that humans can know in the universe or that Jesus is the only salvation.

I love a lot, though.

These are the verses that I am referring to above. Daniel 10:10-14. And it is the angel that is hindered by the Prince of Persia for 3 weeks, and Michael comes to the angel's aid. It doesn't specifically say that the angel is Gabriel, but it usually is Gabriel who speaks to Daniel.

@pawny
I always thought Anne Rice wrote true crime but I may have her confused with someone else.

But, seriously, what's your beef with the Almighty? Have you suffered setbacks and injustices in your life that you believe He is responsible for? Or was your drawing away purely on a cerebral level? You don't have to answer (obviously) but I'm wondering if it was due to affliction.

@shirley
Are you referring to the wrestling match? My memory on the OT is not that good.
saintinsanity
28-Nov-16, 21:50

I just read those verses. They are interesting but I think they could be dangerous to a person who didn't have a good understanding of reality.
saintinsanity
28-Nov-16, 21:51

No the wrestling match was Joseph and was by a river if I remember correctly.
saintinsanity

Maybe it was Daniel.
shirlmygirl

No, Andrew. I am not referring to the wrestling match between Christ and Jacob.

This is the post from the Bible Club: It is all controversial, I know.

Michael, the Archangel
Could you accept that Jesus, the incarnate Son of God, is Michael the Archangel? This is a controversial subject, which I have heard argued more than once. I once made a posting about this on Mervyn Rothwell's previous Bible Club, but I didn't keep a copy of my posting. But I can certainly put up a good argument that Michael is indeed, Jesus, Captain of the Host. What do you think, fellow Christians?

I could actually state this quite quickly, and then go into details later, if you wish. Michael, the Archangel is the only angel with the power to resurrect. He resurrected Moses on Mount Nebo, where Lucifer (the Devil) contended with Him, and took Moses to Heaven. We know Moses is in Heaven because he appeared on the Mount of Transfiguration with Jesus and Elijah. I think I have that right (from memory).

The Book of Daniel states, in Chapter 12:1-6, "And at that time shall Michael stand up, THE GREAT PRINCE, who standeth for the children of thy people, and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time, and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book. And many of those who SLEEP in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt. And they that be wise shall shine like the brightness of the firmament and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars forever and ever. KJV.

1 Thess. 4:16 KJV: "For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, WITH THE VOICE OF THE ARCHANGEL, and with the trump of God, and the dead in Christ shall rise first.

It is difficult to conceive that Christ, a mature being, Captain of the Host, could come as a little baby to redeem us and reconcile us to The Father, but Jesus says, in John 17:24 KJV, "Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am, that they may behold my glory, which thou has given me; for thou lovedst me BEFORE THE FOUNDATION OF THE WORLD".

Oh yeah, Jacob, not Joseph.
