![]() For those who have not read or studied this issue here is a simple definition for it: “the belief or theory that the human race can evolve beyond its current physical and mental limitations, especially by means of science and technology.” A quick Internet search also brought up this definition: A number of people see transhumanism and artificial intelligence as a way of “upgrading” humans, rather like a software programme needing improvement. Some proponents go as far as to say that it will in time lead us into having extraordinary capabilities beyond our present imagination… Arguably, these people are not interested in the current state of the human species, ignoring those inherent qualities we already have. Because of this, transhumanism is therefore a trap. It will lead the human race in the disastrously wrong direction. www.newparadigm.ws The “issue” conservative/ Christians have with transhumanism is simply that we believe we have been created in God's image. And science/ technology associated with transhumanism is a direct threat to that creation. Why? Because power corrupts and abolute power corrupts absolutely! Brave commentators say transhumanism's potential for good should also be considered. www.huffingtonpost.com Other links try the pros and cons approach. www.sheffield.ac.uk Personally, I do think that we can trust our governments to “do the right thing”. Comments, please? |

![]() Artificial Intelligence is Electro-Mechanical design and software, and Transhumanism is the subject of scary syfi and/or the use of technology to further develop and possibly help (maybe end) Man. |

![]() "the theory and development of computer systems able to perform tasks that normally require human intelligence, such as visual perception, speech recognition, decision-making, and translation between languages." Transhumanism may not incorporate AI, calling it "scary syfi" paints a distorted and unintentional as you be in describing it as such minimizes the danger/ potential for harm. Have you actually read through the dangers which the transhumanism technology could engender? These should not be regarded lightly, IMO. www.newparadigm.ws |

![]() Excuse me, but your the one who compared transhumanism to Brave New World = scary SyFi. |

![]() Okay, Aldous Huxley's “Brave New World” may have been science fiction. But I did an Internet search for “What is Aldous Huxley's message in Brave New World?” and the first thing which popped up read in part: “Aldous Huxley has a humanistic, deep and enlightened view of how society should be, and of what constitutes true happiness.” And you misquote me about what is “unintentional”, as well. My meaning was that you did not intend (you were unintentional) to portraying transhumanism as scify, or as something unreal. Though much of what the transhumanists are doing is yet experimental, it nonetheless, is something which could lead to “danger/ potential harm” for mankind. And as “Brave New World” was aimed at some kind of Utopian society, I am afraid that transhumanism is also aimed the same. And “the masses” are going to accept this notion “hook, line, and sinker”, I also predict. In spite of the many dangers and potential for harm/ misuse. |
