I would like to look at the Bible! Each of the 66 books and the 40 writers
Bible Book Number 1 "Genesis". Writer: Moses. Place written: in the wilderness. Writing completed: 1513 BC. Time covered: "In the beginning" to 1657 BC.

I will make some comments about book number one in due course, but feel free to make any comments or to point out anything which you like!

Thanks

I forgot to mention Mosses occupations; he was a scholar, shepherd, prophet and leader.

SATAN'S STRATEGIC PLAN
This is a devotional from the Days of Praise booklet issued by the Institute of Creation Research, concerning the Book of Genesis. It was written by the son of the founder, Henry M. Morris.

"But I fear; lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty; so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ." (2 Corinthians 11:3)

The magnificent book of Genesis sets the foundation for Scripture, revealing the "Roman numerals" upon which the rest of the Bible's message is built. Apart from the actual events of the creation week, the fall of Adam and Eve, and the subsequent horrific growth of sin and the awful judgment of the Flood, the gospel message would make little sense.

Paul's warning showcases the importance of Satan's strategy to ensnare humanity in the same trap. The Devil's tactics change with time and culture, but the strategy remains the same.

First, Satan always attempts to make us doubt the Word of God (Genesis 3:1). If we question the accuracy, the meaning, the authenticity, the historicity, or any other shade of "all scripture" (2 Timothy 3:16), then we begin edging onto a slippery slope that will only lead to the next stage.

Second, Satan always confronts the doubter with a DENIAL of the Word of God (Genesis 3:4). When one begins to deny the authority, the capability, or the will of God to carry out His Word, the slide into the final phase is inevitable.

Third, Satan ultimately heaps DENIGRATION on the Person of God Himself (Genesis 3:5). Once one embraces the thought that the Word of God is not trustworthy and that God either will not or cannot do what He says, it absolutely follows that God is either a liar, a hypocrite, or a capricious and whimsical ogre.

May God protect us from the "wiles of the devil" (Ephesians 6:11) HMMIII

@Shirl
Thank You M2 for the above. I often see friends, builders painters etc who become so busy that they fail to take time off to be with their family or to just chill (rest).
I noticed in Genesis that over billions of years God did a lot of work creating the Heavens and the Earth. This is accomplished in six time periods called days, each beginning with an evening, and ending in the morning.

Might sound odd to some people that a day starts in the evening and ends in the morning, but even today many of our neighbours on Earth still start their day in the evening and it ends in the morning.

My point for writing is that my busy friends who have family, but who don't take time to rest and chill with them are missing out! Yes they are making lots of money, but if we are in the image of our Lord then for his sake we should chill and rest just like God did on the seventh day

I will say this, Jimmy, in response to your post above, that I believe that Creation, as it is described in Genesis, literally occurred in six actual days, evening to morning. Would God give the Seventh Day as a day of rest with thousands, millions or billions of years in between? With regard to the original substance of earth, the Bible says it was "without form and void", (Gen 1:2) so perhaps there was something there before God's (Jesus') Creation began. John 1:1-3. NKJV

I believe we are still at this moment of time, in the seventh day.... No disrespect, but Gods time is different from our thoughts of time.

Indeed it is, Jimmy. The Bible says that one day (of our time) is as a thousand years to God.

EXODUS
Jimmy said in his first post above that he would like to touch on all the Books of the Bible. I've already made a post about Genesis. A very significant chapter in Exodus is #20, setting out the Ten Commandments, written on stone with God's own finger on Mount Horeb in Saudi Arabia. I know there is controversy concerning the keeping of the Sabbath (from Friday sundown to Saturday sundown), but the Ten Commandments are the ideal way of living, which God desires for us. God knows what is best for mankind, if only we would follow it.

The film The Ten Commandments starring Charlton Heston has been playing every Easter (Passover) for many years. Each time the deadly mist travels through Egypt killing the first born of the Egyptians, and Moses' family and friends are eating the Passover meal, I can't help noticing the absence of the Sacrificial Lamb which represents the coming Messiah. They are eating the bread, but God said that his people must kill and roast a lamb, eat all of it, and whatever is left over must be burned. The blood of that animal must be pasted on the doorposts of their dwelling places, so that the plague can pass over them.   Exodus, Chapter 12, NKJV.

LEVITICUS
Some people of other denominations consider the Seventh-Day Adventists, my denomination, a little weird because we follow the dietary guidelines set out in Leviticus Chapter Eleven. I was intending to type them all out but they are rather lengthy. Many believe that these dietary restrictions have been done away with because of one or more verses in the New Testament. However, one of those verses (I'd have to look it up to be certain of the scripture reference), states that the foods are sanctified. We believe that The Lord does not sanctify foods that He has classed as abominations. God has told us what is good and healthy for us to eat. We have our own opinions, that is for sure.
