Who should get the cv vaccines first ? zorro, Thank you for your response that you want to get vaccinated ASAP when it is available. Correct me if I am wrong. Your response implies that current preventive measures are insufficient to stop the spread of cv virus and that we have to reinforce the current preventive measures with the cv vaccinations to do so. As a health care provider, I should get the first batch of cv vaccinations. I don't know where to get it. Initially, vaccinations will be rationed. There are so many Pharma companies competing each other that within 1 to 2 months, I believe the vaccines will be available. Especially, China can fulfill the needs of vaccinations around the world if the price is right. |

Ace What??? Current measures are FULLY to eradicate COVID if they were carried out consistently, uniformly and drastically. Of course that would come with other costs. Current measures have indeed been shown to be effective, even when not universal. They help, to varying degrees, based on levels of compliance. But a vaccine would be, obviously, vey helpful. Vaccine It will, as Ace notes, go to medical personnel and highest at risk groups--old folks homes--first. It will be March or April before the last groups--children--will be able to be vaccinated. After that we will discover the mutation rate is rendering the vaccines ineffective. Deaths will continue climbing. |

It seems not. Perhaps March, by which time the situation will be different. 2. Will it be urgent? It probably will be the the USA, where politicians of all stripes have so thoroughly stuffed things up; but here in Australia we have gone for more than two weeks with less than five community cases. Most new cases are people already in quarantine. By March, we might well be in the clear. America can only dream of that happening. 3. What will be the side-effects? If there are side-effects, it might well be a sensible decision to NOT take it in an environment where there is no community transmission happening, and only take it if contemplating overseas travel. So I try to make decisions based on INFORMATION AT THE TIME rather than 'in principle' decisions before the information is available, just to prove a political point Which is what you are trying to do with your loaded question; you start with saying 'putting politics aside', and ten ask me to answer based on political rather than medical information. Update on warp speed cv vaccine. I am very sad for too much politicizing on Trump's warp speed vaccine by Democrats. That can result in more deaths for not receiving the vaccine in a timely fashion. NY governor Cuomo is skeptical of the vaccine and so Trump said that he will not deliver the vaccine to NY unless he asks for it. We should keep politics aside and consider the well being of Americans IMHO. |

Ace 1: Pence announced that there had been 60+ task force meetings in the past two weeks, so there was adequate time to develop a ship-shod Warp speed deployment plan for the up-coming vaccines. Here are some take aways: The General in charge of FEMA presented a graph that that showed a "massive" Government stock-pile of 140,000,000. He also announced that his department was prepared to send matching kits (syringes, cotton and vaccine dilution fluids, etc) AFTER the vaccine developing Pharmaceutical companies shipped their vaccines to the interested states (that apparently excludes New York and a few other Democrat states), so t's apparent that those politically motivated, late in the game, 60 task force meetings weren't sufficient to develop a Government VACCINE transport procedure huh? It seems apparent that prior to those 60 meetings: "Warp Speed" was little more than a trump squawk approach to make himself look smart and pretty while he doled-out a few more $Billion to his friends. |
