![]() I am in western Australia and we don't have any cases thanks to our premier who closed our borders but things may change when everybody starts moving from country more freely which could be our downfall. |

![]() I say go for it when you're time comes up, even if you're scared shitlless every time you walk into a doctors office. ATHENA: Mine was Moderna too, hon --- that's almost as spooky as both of of us having a first pet named Toby, huh? It's an inside story between Brigadecommander and me, y'all (see the correct THINK Club forum and join the club if ya want to) |

![]() I do have to admit that I am strongly committed to the vaccination efforts. My wife and I volunteer at our county’s main vaccination sites for three 12 hour shifts per week. We were vaccinating ~1100 per shift about two months ago and now we are averaging ~1600 people per shift. We have EMTs and ambulances on site, but we have yet to have a single person have a negatively reaction immediately after getting their shot. Very few people have any reaction after the first shot other than a mildly sore arm for a couple of days. After the second shot some people have mild side effects over the next 24 hours. A few people might run a mild fever and feel a bit wiped out for 24 hours, but I think avoiding the virus far outweighs such short-term side effects. The most common comment from people right after getting jabbed is claiming they never received their shot because they felt no pain. In the first clinic shift I volunteered at I had a 96 year old women who only spoke Italian (her grandson translated) who was quite adamant that she did not receive her injection and I had to take her back to the person who gave her the shot who removed the band aid and allowed her grandson to see the small needle prick mark at her injection site. All of my experience has been with the Moderna vaccine. Our clinic has only received the Moderna vaccine to date and that has helped to simplify things since we have to provide the same vaccine four weeks later for their second shot. My understanding is that the Phizer experience is almost identical. I probably would get the Johnson and Johnson vaccine if that was the only option available to me when going to a vaccination clinic. However, I am not very confident in the Astra Zeneca vaccine that has been used is other countries and will likely be approved in the US soon. A few countries had to stop using that vaccine because of some potentially dangerous side effects and because it is not very effective against some of the variant strains. For those that do get vaccinated I suggest taking great care of your vaccination cards. Both Staples and Office Depot are laminating vaccine cards for free. In the vaccination clinics run by our county and state, all of the vaccine histories are stored in a database and within a few minutes of receiving your second shot you receive an email with a link to your vaccination history. The problem is, every state is doing their own thing when it comes to digitally documenting vaccination records and it doubtful that all of these databases will be able to talk to each other and create a centralized database that airlines, border control, employers and cruise ship companies could readily access. And, Biden is not allowing the federal government to create a national vaccine passport; he wants it to come from corporate America. |

![]() I still work but my wife is retired. We have turned into very recluse people. |

![]() My shot was Pfizer. My dad got his second shot a few days ago, with Moderna. The second shot hit him harder (chills, very tired) but after a couple days he was fine. Also good that you’re involved with that Scott, and thanks for all that info, much appreciated |

![]() When people ask me why we should all get vaccinated I show them my smallpox vaccine scar on my upper arm and say "this is why smallpox no longer exists because vaccines work). Get vaccinated people. |

![]() Thank you Scott, I do get my second in three weeks. Here's a certain hint of what day it will be. May the '4th' be with us all The main side effects I've had is a sore arm and now a bit tired it seems...but I'm always tired so it's hard to tell with that one, so minor stuff, nothing even close to being bad, which I expected, I knew there wouldn't be any big side effects. |

![]() The minor side effects some people get from the second shot are pretty short lived and last just a day. A small price to pay for protecting you and your family from the virus. |

![]() My wife has been out of the house to go to a store since January of last year. I've done all the shopping since. We found out about COVID in mid January before the virus made the news. We really can't believe it is still with us. My wife is a retired RN and has studied viruses for the type of nursing she was in. She did not have the seriousness spelled out to her. She was at extreme risk. I was too after cancer surgery in October. The doctors that worked on me made it very plain how significant the risk were. |

![]() 8 cases among 30,000,000 shots were reported among women in America who received the J & J vaccine and one of them died. The UK reports that 7 people have died from blood clots after receiving the Astrazenka vaccine and Australia has reported one death. As yet: It's a bit uncertain if the vaccines caused any of the blood clots, but don't take small odds on it. |

![]() I'm glad you and your wife didn't get the virus and are now fully vaccinated Mark. Yeah this past year has flown by, but hopefully things will improve now with the vaccines getting out more and more. And yeah I've heard a bit about the blood clots. If they do cause them, it's still so rare of it happening, less than 1 in a million I think? A lot more likely to get the virus, so I'm sure I would have still gotten vaccinated even if that was one of the providers I was being given. |
