No, No celebration of Columbus & Halloween
youtu.be
In 1492 Christopher Columbus and his crew went on a journey that will change history forever. They traveled across the Atlantic to the Carribean, there they met the Taino people. Here’s how the Spanish and the Tainos treated each other and what exactly happened in the next years.
----------------
The above youtube video is a brief history of what happened to native Indians after he landed in new found land. We used to say before, " Christopher Columbus discovered America. " It is an insult to Indians because they were in Americas for thousands of years when they crossed the ice bridge Bering strait from central Asia during the ice age over 10,000 years ago. As a matter of fact, Asians discovered Americas.

What happened next to Indians after Columbus landed here is a great unimaginable catastrophe for them. The Spanish tortured and killed them. Women were raped. They have to work them as slaves. Finally, they became extinct and died by diseases brought by Spanish. If so, why should current day Americans celebrate Columbus day and alienate the native Indians ? Columbus day is renamed Indigenous American day and the day passed without much fanfare and celebration to Columbus.

The kids like to celebrate and enjoy Halloween. They will dress up in fancy dress and wander around from house to house for candies according to, " Trick or Treat " play. What the kids don't fully understand stand is that Halloween is associated with dark or evil forces of witchcraft, ghosts, goblin etc. Dark or Black evil forces is interchangeable according to Critical Race theorists and therefore it is discriminatory against black people that they are evil. Therefore, they urged not to celebrate Halloween.

Those of us who know the history of Christopher Columbus generally agree that he doesn't deserve a national holiday.

Should we celebrate Halloween ?

mo-one thank you for contributing the history of Taino people genocide by Spanish.

This is a good question to whether we should celebrate Halloween or not. I don' t have a definite opinion of for or against it. As a matter of fact, I enjoy seeing happy kids enjoying the Halloween celebration. The only problem now is that the covid-19 Pandemic which is still raging across the globe and is not over yet. We should encourage kids to stay at home and social distancing to prevent the the spread of CV.

The kids need to learn what is good and evil. Unless they are exposed or have knowledge of what is good or evil, how can they avoid it IMHO ? The kids need parental supervision and guidance not to go wrong in celebration of Halloween.

I enjoy the decorations of Halloween and and I love pumpkin pie, but knocking on doors for candy is more dangerous for the children these days.

The alternative plan B for negative Halloween plan A.

What would you do if your kids cannot celebrate Halloween ? You can play chess or other activities but at Halloween day, you want to celebrate with scary things. It is human nature. As the saying goes, " Curiosity can kill a cat." Even if the cat can be killed, some people will take risks to satisfy their curiosity. For example, one out of ten people can die climbing mount Everest, the highest mountain in the world and yet mountain climbers keep on climbing.

The alternative plan B is to watch scary youtube movies in the above link. Think twice before you watch those movies. It is not for the faint hearted. Viewer discretion is advised. It will scare you the fear s**t out of your soul but for me as an MD it is just a simple entertainment. I am not kidding.

Scary movies don't "scare" me because I know they are fake, but they do have occasions to make me jump.

Do I scare you ?

mo-one will say, " I don't scare because there is no such thing as ghosts. " When Halloween comes I always remember Michael Jackson's Ghosts and Thriller movies. His acting is very superb.

Although we don't believe in supernatural powers, it is a good entertainment to watch those movies.
