Migeri
While this is a month old, it is instructive.

game

White just played 35. Kc1.

White’s obvious play is BxRd7, releasing the rook pretty much for a force mate of QxB after black plays Qe1+. White can only cover that by Kd1. So Qe1+ first, then BxR…

Instead black resigns for a 16 point loss.

Several other tournament games are resigned in similar manner.

Correction
Black’s obvious move…

Funny Games (No not the film with Naomi Watts)
Could someone take a look at these two.
chickenattack and ruy_lopez21. What do you think is going on?

@neurokarma: neither is team material, too many timeouts. I think it is two players either in the same household, or friends playing each other using different computers. Chickenattack is the much better player since he almost reached 1900.

Chicken could be using a computer sporadically (not all moves, just the “tough” ones) for his games. I’ve put one of your games on the GK computer so see how good his play was. Normally if they are using a computer, they’ll win in 20-30 moves to checkmate, but 32 is not far off. Otherwise I see none of the indicators of cheating I know of (see other threads here in the Captain’s club).

BTW, I’m claiming imapirate as having quit play here at GK. In his last flurry of game, I wrote to everyone he had started a tourney game with he has a known cheater and presented the proof shown here at the captain’s club. I’m sure he got so much harassment he decided it was “no fun” cheating anymore.

So, stormtracker’s and imapirate’s scalps are now hanging on my coup wall.

Thanks Wasatch much appreciated. Looks like rating manipulation though and why all the time outs instead of resigning?

I deleted my previous post because a player mentioned has not been on Gameknot for 3 months.
I think the worst happened to her.

@ wasatch, what year did you hang stormtracker on your coup wall?

@mikemate

It has been a while. The tourney was:

"85° abreast's mini-tournament"

…and Stormtracker threw one of his games against me:

game

…while playing “mistake free” chess (no mistakes according to GK computer) and I then reported him to GK who then put him on ice with regard to tournament play. Within a month of the report, he quit GK (as I recall). At the time he was 3rd on tournament points, I was 95th or so…

So, about 5 years ago now.

The name Stormtracker brings back memories. Some of you must remember Shirley
shirlmygirl, Co-captain and Founding Member of the team "Christ Our Redeemer". She came
to Gameknot with very little knowledge of chess including en passant, and much more.

However, she became very efficient at determining when a player was manipulating his/her rating
for better team matches. She reported stormtracker and Gameknot removed him from team
games permanently. That was many years ago, maybe 12. She now has not been on Gameknot
for three months. I miss her.

Shirley was not well. I have her email address. I can try to send a mail and find out if she is ok.

I just sent her a message (with my e-mail address). orkneylad sees her from time to time.
He may have information. I do fear she is at least very immobile.

The set of criteria I posted for cheating was (mostly) reported to me by an old team Captain when I was playing team play. He was very knowledgeable on computer play and said many of the players above 2400 were using computers here at GK. Unlike Chess.com, which he said was the best in throwing out cheaters, he claimed GK was extremely lax in enforcing cheater rules. He is now playing at Chess.com as he claimed to be tired of the rule enforcement here at GK.

Using those “cheat indicators” I’m able to navigate the very few cheaters I find here at the level I play (increasingly below 1800 now due to my 76 year old brain, good thing there’s a floor at 1700).

There are a few more suspects on the top 100 players on the tournament points list, I just avoid them.

I hang around because I enjoy playing on the ladders and I find the opening books here at GK to be better than Chess.com

I spoke with orkneylad about a month ago, and he said that he will soon be up in her neck of the woods and will look her up. The previous time he was there, she didn't want him to visit because of her health. I think it had something to do with embarrassment over the nearly complete loss of her hearing. Anyway, I will post here when orkneylad reports back to me.

Catseye/imapirate is gone
The account has been deleted off GK. We have a conclusion to 2 1/2 years of chasing this clown off GK.

Thanks to all who have helped out in gaining this conclusion.
