Titus
Titus just accepted a challenge on behalf of Sparticus, unless Emma patched in.

No, sorry. My co-captain has accepted many challenges yesterday. Very happy to see that! Messages from Fred and David have helped. Now I can enjoy my vacation with the love of my life

@bearz2
Maybe, if you don’t get two more co-captains, the teams in question should be dissolved and the players join other active teams. It will be tragic to see old, great teams go, but I would house some players myself.

My bigger question is why these teams do not get captains? It is a huge honor, besides the effort, work and dedication. I have a full time career that takes me away often (this past week being a good example), but when I get back I catch up again and keep my team happy. It makes me question what is happening in the team that we don’t know about, i do not want disruptive players in my team- SWAT cooperate and is very quiet in the team forums, but there are no problems in the team.

@bearz2
Fred, have you offered your teammates the platinum subscription?

Platinum
Just to round things off Platinum membership is $60 US = $90 AUS and not everyone can part with $90 for someone else to play chess not in our economic climate.
I wouldn't.

Yes, white-knight1, the South African exchange rate is even worse. For us it is ZAR 1 200-00. For many people that is a weeks' wages.

Riaan, I agree that being Captain of a team on Gameknot is an honor and long time mates
become friends in real life.

Our team is slightly younger than " S.W.A.T. " and my original goal was to hit #1 and do it often.
For the past couple years I have not been seeking many team matches and my extra time is well
spent - still teaching scholastic chess, two classes for 75 minutes with 16 & 15 students grades
4-6 this week.

There has been at least three and certainly a few more that have passed away from our team.
Two have been noted on our team page for several years.

Gameknot makes those contacts possible.

Good chess,
Mike

Many teams have several co-captains who never send challenges and never respond to challenges. I'm curious what they do. Maybe accept responses to challenges sent by captains where everything is accepted with no substitutions? Anything else you know of? And I'm surprised that none respond to the need for co-captains in other teams.

I run my team by myself. I have a co cap but i think he is busy he was made co by the past captain and team founder so i get on with the job and do it myself. I don't ask for a co cap as it's not easy to get one. There a few teams with co caps who do nothing so do you demote them and they throw there teddy out of bed or do you leave well alone.

I'm lucky i have a dedicated co-captain and would love another one
To be honest over the years i have actually had some great ones and ther've moved one to other things.
Having said that if one in particular could get it together i would gladly have him back

I'm going to put this out to you all.

Any team that wants to close its doors Team Triton is very willing to take the members and keep the captain on as a Co-Captain or just a regular player.
Don't like what happened with Spartacus and i now know the facts so the particular Captain should be aware I don't like unfair play nor breaking G.K. rules.

Fred as you know what's gone on with spartacus and many of us may not please put the rest of us in the loop.
And if someone has been playing unfair and breaking G.K. rules we all need to know.

I'll take Emma as co-captain right now. Immediately.

As to your post, saguaro; 20-Nov-24, 08:28: My co-captains unquestionably approve challenges that I set up and no changes made to nominations. When there are changes to nominations, it is their discretion to accept or decline. I do not question their decisions and back them 100%. They also accept challenges during my absences, sometimes lengthy ones due to work as a police officer. I trust my co-captains implicitly and it is not my place to dictate to them. All have extensive games experience, and all know my personal references for the priority of statistics when I set up challenges. What their priorities are, I do not question. We all co-operate amicably and the team stays fairly busy.

I have been extremely busy lately myself: my mom passed away last year, and we had one hell of a time to get my dad settled in an old age home. And just as I thought things would settle down, he was hospitalized yesterday. So there are new crises in my life that I have to attend to. One more co-captain for team SWAT would be very nice, though. So Emma, if you read this, I am awaiting your application to team SWAT.
