![]() twitter.com So far over ten thousand innocent civilians have been butchered by Russian invaders, all at Putin’s bidding so he can steal the nation’s wealth just as he has stolen $200 billion (USD equivalent, not rubles) from the Russian people. Ten thousand slain. Twenty to thirty thousand Ukrainian soldiers have perished in this pointless and unprovoked conflict. We must dedicate ourselves to ending this evil, not supporting it. |

![]() Ukraine’s use of drones, in particular, have shown that a lot of the NATO strategy is in need of updating as well but it comes as a Non-NATO conflict and essentially a “cheap” test bed of modern weapons and tactics. The Russian Bear is shown to be somewhat toothless but dangerous and Putin is now seen as the madmen folks once suspected but now have hard proof. |

![]() Ukraine once possessed nuclear weapons but later surrendered them, he recalls. Now, he worries that small, non-nuclear nations may draw a concerning lesson from the current war. Many nations, he fears, may simply decide, “to hell with this nonproliferation, to hell with these security assurances and affirmations; it’s time to go nuclear, because the bomb is what really provides a guarantee against an invasion in this new world, where wars of conquest and impatience and nuclear extortion works.” “It’s absolutely vital that smaller nations under attack—especially when it comes to nations that base unjustified, unprovoked, invasions such as what we have, especially when it comes to fighting one of the world’s largest war machines such as Russia, with immense resources—it’s absolutely vital that such nations get absolutely unconditional support. It’s absolutely vital that dictatorial warmongering regimes get the signal of no admission and get the clear understanding of no possibility of wars of conquest.” “Today it’s Ukraine,” he adds. “So many decision makers, leaders, and loud voices are asking, ‘Why fight for Kyiv?’ ‘Why help Ukraine?’ Tomorrow it will be, ‘Why help Warsaw?’ ‘Why help Tallinn?’ It’s no surprise that … Article 5 is the big question right now.” Article 5 of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) provides for collective defense of member countries. That is, an attack against one member of NATO is an attack against all. Ukraine is not a member. “Evil must be resisted. Otherwise it grows bigger, and it gets even more dangerous. You can’t avoid history. You can’t avoid decisions that are absolutely necessary. It’s not our choice to be or not to be in this situation. The war comes and decisions need to be made. Otherwise it will only grow worse. There’s no way to put a head in the sand.” President Zelenskyy acknowledged that 31,000 Ukrainian soldiers have died, though US intelligence suggests that’s an underestimate. Thousands of Ukrainian prisoners of war have also returned with psychological wounds stemming from torture, according to the New York Times. In Russia, more than 50,000 soldiers have died, according to the BBC. That’s a staggering toll, especially as no end is in sight. “Most people are good human beings,” Ponomarenko said. “They sympathize. They listen to many Ukrainians telling stories about this war because this is about universal values that anybody in the world appreciates and loves. We all want to be free, alive, and happy.” “I want my audience and readers to understand the extremely shocking nature of this war,” he said. “We saw mass graves on parking lots in our communities, in our cities, next to our supermarkets. … It could happen to anyone.” From the Bulletin for Atomic Scientists thebulletin.org |

![]() “Well, it’s just war,” some might dismiss. But Russia has no right to engage in these senseless war crimes. This is genocide. And if Russia succeeds, they will further annihilate all historic traces of this once great, historic nation. Ukrainians have been busy making 3D models of their historic buildings and cherished works as insurance against the destruction of the evil marauders. www.pbs.org. |

![]() This pointless, unprovoked war has been particularly brutal for both sides. Ukrainian librarians and museum directors have been just as heavily targeted as Russian officers. Many artifacts have been captured or destroyed, and of course churches and buildings of historical significance or import obliterated. |

![]() No one is buying this bull. Interview here: x.com Meanwhile, there is little reason to supply Russian troops on the front with clean water when their life expectancy is only five days. They will be dead before they get sick. Injured troops are sent straight back to the front line. |

![]() Below is a portion of an interview with Hegseth, apparently we sided with Russia, Hungary, and Belarus against the “dictator” Zelensky and the little nation “forcing Russia’s naked aggression:” REPORTER: You focused on what Ukraine has to give up. What concessions will be demanded of Putin? HEGSETH: Hmm. I would start by saying that the arguments that have been made that somehow sitting down at the table right now is making concessions to Vladimir Putin, I just reject that outright. REPORTER: Yes, but every “peace talk” so far has been about what Ukraine has to give up – territory, NATO aspirations, sovereignty. So what exactly is Putin putting on the table? HEGSETH: Well, I don’t think it’s fair to say that we’re just giving concessions to Putin. REPORTER: Okay, is he pulling out the Russian troops? Paying reparations? Admitting war crimes? Or is his big “compromise” that he’s just taking less from Ukraine than he originally wanted? HEGSETH: Look, negotiations require both sides to make sacrifices. REPORTER: Yes, but only one side has launched a full-scale invasion. If a guy steals your house and offers to give you back half of your living room, that's not a "compromise" - that's a hostage deal. HEGSETH: I just think it's time for diplomacy. REPORTER: Diplomacy is great when both sides want peace. But when one side just wants a "pause" to recharge, that's not diplomacy - that's setting up for the next invasion. HEGSETH: So you're saying no negotiations, just endless war? REPORTER: No, I'm saying that a peace agreement where only one side makes sacrifices is not peace - that's a better saying for surrender. ![]() However, the Mountain Men will no longer accept challenges from teams who side with evil in this conflict. If you are aware of any team captains supporting unprovoked war on ANY nation (sadly excepting the US which has a long history of just that), please mention them here. |

![]() The actions of the US must be roundly condemned. We are now in breach of the 1994 Budapest Agreement. en.wikipedia.org Borowitz notes: WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report)—Asserting that “it was for the good of my country,” Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with a Russian agent on Friday. Zelenskyy said he was aware that meeting the enemy agent would stir controversy, but added, “It was important to communicate with someone who speaks for Putin.” After the Ukrainian thoroughly destroyed his counterpart in the meeting, the Russian agent received a harsh upbraiding from his Kremlin superior, Elon Musk. “I thought I told you not to have any meetings without me,” Musk screamed. Meanwhile, Zelenskyy’s performance garnered wide praise. “Vlod, you kicked his ass!” said Bishop Budde. |

![]() He demands Ukraine be barred from NATO, so no more security guarantees than the country had when the evil war criminal Putler illegally annexed Crimea. Groper is an idiot. We have known this all along, but sometimes his blatant, pig-headed stupidity just cannot be ignored. Groper demand Ukraine surrender its minerals to us and its lands to Putin, and in exchange Putler promises to stop killing and raping innocent Ukrainians for a little while. Zelenskyy is not playing cards. Groper is. Toying with people’s lives. Russian orcs do not belong on Ukrainian soil. It is as simple as that. Russia must be resoundingly defeated, and Putler’s vanity war to restore empire must end in his defeat, not reward. Dictators cannot be encouraged, the way Groper is encouraging them. He is just flat out idiotically wrong on this issue. |

![]() As far as Britain is concerned I'm not sure what there is to disagree on. Living here I can safely say Keir Starmer and his cronies make no secret of their support for Israel and most media coverage is hopelessly biased. To be clear, I don't want to any player banned based on where they happen to live. I am reluctant to play any person who supports the killing of women and children, be it in Ukraine, Palestine or anywhere. Chris |

![]() The US is faithless and without honor. We wish to renege on the Panama Canal just as we did the Iran Deal and the Paris Accord. Why are we placing tariffs on our chief trading partners? It is because Groper is defying the really poor trade deal brokered by a former idiot president back in 2019. Groper stiffs vendors and partners as easily as he cheats at golf. Zelensky must be wary of any deal offered by the US. We chose a president who violates treaties with passion and lack of commitment with which he violated marriage vows. In 1994 the US, Russia, and the UK all three promised Ukraine security guarantees if they surrendered their nuclear weapons arsenal, the third largest in the world at that time. Yesterday the US switched to Russia’s side of the war criminal’s conflict, leaving the UK the sole supporter of the original promise. Groper’s first impeachment was over halting the delivery of arms to Ukraine, though in that case he was extorting foreign subversion of US elections. This time around his motive is unknown. Russia occupies the rare earth rich regions of Ukraine. Possibly Groper has sought private mining deals with Putler? It is curious he has entered negotiations with the evil empire absent any input from the primary party of interest. |

![]() We are two and two, he trounced me in the OTB game. That was fun. I joined a local tournament last week. I hope to become a regular member, I had joined the USCF half a century ago but no tournaments were held within two hundred miles of Dogpatch, in the sticks of northern Nevada, so I never got a rating. Always wanted one. That’s my new goal for 2025, and maybe to get my grandson involved this summer. gameknot.com I was shocked to see that not only had we played three times on GK, I won two. I assumed I had lost them all—Mo is truly underrated. I should annotate those games, perhaps. Not only is Mo underrated, he and his brother are both stronger players than I am, though I have not played Jon. Ah, my one game against Jon was also a loss: gameknot.com This is one reason I’m pretty sure I’m highly overrated. I know I’m outmatched against team players, but I should take more team games. Well done that later this year too. |
