Max Team Games
Why doesn't Game Knot allow Captains to see their players "max team games"?

Thanks!

IDK, Jim. But, if you look at who you're going to match, it'll show players unvaliable. And, then, it'll say something like they reached their maximum team games. And, that's because their unavaliable due to their preference which means that they've reached the maximum amount of team games that they're willing to play. But, my guess is that GK won't allow captains to directly see it in order to maintain the members privacy. And, I can relate to this because if I were just a member, I might not be completely happy if the captain looked at my max team games. Yes, I'd understand where and why they'd want to do it in order to make sure that the member is avaliable for matches. But, I'd want my privacy which is why I also have that rule that my players don't have to be avalaible for team games because of things like school work or work for when they get a job. And, that's because of how busy life can really get.

Privacy?
Your max team games s a matter you want concealed from your own team captain?

This privacy thing can go way too far.

I used to place the team game maximum for every teammate in their player notes.
Updated as necessary.

I have everyone in a spreadsheet, with their max, & update occasionally.

GameKnot's Default
GameKnot's default setting for Max simultaneous team games is 10, correct?

Many players on my team, including myself, freely change their setting. But there are also a few whose setting has been 10 for as long as I can remember, which leads me to believe that that is what the setting was from the beginning.

Max team games
I've had player play 35+ team games.
I think the limit is up to the player and the amount
of total games allowed by membership level.

If a player has many team games and times out
it can spell trouble.

In the Merry Christmas thread there is a link to
an app that can show max team games. I made
it for my team, but if you go into the html code
by opening notepad, it may be possible to just
swap out the names and mumbers. It's in Javascript.
The app does 2 things at once: it takes you to the
player vs player record, and back on the app page,
it prints out the max team games for player entered in
the first text box.

Find max team games by maxing players out and recording
the number, or contacting the player.

I only allow 20 games per player.

Six
I tend to limit my team mates to six.

I don't like to put limits and would rather just say however many I have. But, I don't have too many available. And, like I said, unlike many other teams, I don't have a rule about who has to be available for matches. So, I would usually get about 3 players available for matches when I pair them with other teams.

There is a fringe benefit, sometimes, of a player
taking on a lot of games; in that, they improve through
practice. Also, I'm not keen on the idea of declining a match
because I put limits on how many matches they can have.
People who have been known to timeout are kept at
a reasonable amount of matches. It's not a one-size-fits-all
situation.

@Classica
But I have had several players with few past timeouts who disappeared & timed out all their games. That's why I limit it.

@Classica 2
I don't have to decline a match because a player has too many games; I have all of them set their max.

They don't comply after several requests, they're removed. I put a lot of time into the team & expect their cooperation at a minimum.

Yikes..
Been a team captain on here for years, never would I ask players to set a certain number of games, if they want to play 2, or even none for a while, that's their choice!

Limits
Right, I don’t require any of my team mates to play. They can go a year without games. After a year though, if they haven’t been on at all, I let them go with a message they are welcome to reapply.

I just hate assigning more than six games because I assigned eight or ten to a player once who then left GK. And I personally don’t like to take on too many at once—so if they want private games they can add as many extra as they like.

I suppose I could add a few more for teammates I’ve had more than a year who have no TOs.

@chrisobee
Sure it is, but I'm not going to risk letting them have too many & then timing out

Captaining and making matches is similar to gambling.
