![]() In 1492 Christopher Columbus and his crew went on a journey that will change history forever. They traveled across the Atlantic to the Carribean, there they met the Taino people. Here’s how the Spanish and the Tainos treated each other and what exactly happened in the next years. ---------------- The above youtube video is a brief history of what happened to native Indians after he landed in new found land. We used to say before, " Christopher Columbus discovered America. " It is an insult to Indians because they were in Americas for thousands of years when they crossed the ice bridge Bering strait from central Asia during the ice age over 10,000 years ago. As a matter of fact, Asians discovered Americas. What happened next to Indians after Columbus landed here is a great unimaginable catastrophe for them. The Spanish tortured and killed them. Women were raped. They have to work them as slaves. Finally, they became extinct and died by diseases brought by Spanish. If so, why should current day Americans celebrate Columbus day and alienate the native Indians ? Columbus day is renamed Indigenous American day and the day passed without much fanfare and celebration to Columbus. The kids like to celebrate and enjoy Halloween. They will dress up in fancy dress and wander around from house to house for candies according to, " Trick or Treat " play. What the kids don't fully understand stand is that Halloween is associated with dark or evil forces of witchcraft, ghosts, goblin etc. Dark or Black evil forces is interchangeable according to Critical Race theorists and therefore it is discriminatory against black people that they are evil. Therefore, they urged not to celebrate Halloween. |
