I'll prefer a Margarita
(original recipe amended by Zorro; the choice of Cointreau or Grand Marnier gives two related byt suitably different versions)

Preparation:

a small plate with finely crushed sea salt
a bottle of Agave syrup
cocktail glasses
a bottle of first class Tequila
a bottle of either Cointreau or Grand Marnier liqueur
a cocktail shaker
ice cubes (in the freezer)
limes
----------------

1 measure of freshly squeezed lime juice into shaker

Use the skin of one lime to wet the rims of cocktail glasses which are dipped into the salt.

mix the lime juice with 1/2 measure of Cointreau or Grand Marnier, and

2 measures of Tequila

add 'a squeeze' of Agave syrup (to neutralise the sour of the lime)

add several ice cubes

Shake (do not stir) thoroughly

Pour into glasses

Enjoy

Manhattan
Ingredients

1 oz. Rye whiskey
0.5 oz. sweet vermouth
3 dashes aromatic Bitters
1 cherry (I prefer fresh- typically they use maraschino cherries)

1 - Stir and strain into a coupe cocktail glass.
2 - Garnish with a cherry.

Zorro
I will have to admit that I have never had a Manhattan (at least, I don't remember!). I love whiskey, but either single malt Scotch or one of the Irish brands (Jameson, Bushmills). To mix anyone of those with more than just a touch of water would be almost sacrilegious

Yes, but…

Manhattans are delish. So too a well made Whiskey sour

Ingredients

2 ounces bourbon
¾ ounce fresh lemon juice
¾ ounce simple syrup
½ orange wheel (for serving)

Preparation

Combine bourbon, lemon juice, and simple syrup in a cocktail shaker.
Fill shaker with ice, cover, and shake vigorously until outside of shaker is very cold, about 20 seconds.
Strain cocktail through a Hawthorne strainer or a slotted spoon into an old-fashioned or rocks glass filled with ice. Garnish with orange wheel.

OK, yes, I have had whiskey sours! And, of course, if you use bourbon as the whiskey you are allowed to mix it with anything (I know, this is not fair  ).

By contrast (to my dislike of bourbon), I need to say that the by far best Dry Martinis (gin) I've ever had, I have had in American restaurants or hotel bars.

Rum,
is my choice for the best drinks. Generally they are “best of class” when made someplace where ripe when picked just prior to juicing citrus fruit and pineapples are readily available. The wife makes a real nice Mai Tai that only lacks the Hawaiian touch.

As in cooking, we go for simple, easy, flexible and forgiving drink recipes.

A favorite is
Egg nog with rum.

Pour your choice of quantity of your choice of rum into,

your choice of egg nog

Stir

Serve

Brain Hemorrhage
is my pick

It's vodka, grenadine, Baileys Irish and heavy cream

Mix gently to allow the cream to curdle and then let it set for a while until the red streaked cream globules float to the top and the horrible looking red stuff settles to the bottom --- You'll know when it's ready.

Prepare and serve in a clear 4-6 ounce glass which isn't too wide that you can fill to near bop (a champagne glass works).

Gold Cadillac
One shot each of yellow chartreuse and cognac, and don't forget to bring a fat wallet.

www.foxnews.com

Made some Sunday and after replacing one brand with another. I had the new brand and it ws great. My second was an less expensive brand. My results of the comparison were the first one tasted damn good. The old brand was ok it tasted good.
Drink the brands you like, you get what you pay for.

Your link suggests several very interesting and to me completely new variations on the Margarita theme. Which one did you make? And how did it differ from my recipe given in a post above?

I tried your version with 2 brands and used my shaker. I liked the new brand over the old brand.
I was amazed at all the different brands light and dark. I used the Blanco light brands i both of the drinks I made 1 at a time.

I’ve recently begun making my own tonic. Only takes a few specialty ingredients.

SO much better than store bought. Best Gin and Tonics ever!

Beer & Wine
I started out making wine, but have switched primarily to beer. Wine I only do in season when the fruit is on, but beer I can make any time, with fewer failures.

I have made porters, stouts, lagers, and various ales. I grow and dry my own hops, and I have a pergola for grapes (and hops) but cannot get enough to make my own wine from them. I have made wine from beets (delicious), plums, apricots, and rhubarb. The rhubarb wine is most excellent.

I have made wine with my dad from his grapes. His first batch turned out well. We needed to have bottled the second batch long before we did.

Enjoy both beer and wine and Liquor
in order...
Beer is my most go to drink
Wines are something I like to share with others when entertaining
Then whatever Liquor's are wanted are here at our bar with mixers,
maybe Z can share how he makes tonics...

LS your wines are making me want to google delicious wines
The rhubarb wine sounds great!

You’ll likely need to search for or order online for chinchona bark. Green cardamom is available at specialty spice shops

Let us know. Do it soon… G&T season is limited 😏

Mai Tai
A Mai Tai must have OG and pineapple juice, the fresher the better. Scratch the grenadine or any thing that’s redish in color. See “Hawaiian Mai Tia” on the internet. It should call for, light & dark rums, oj and pineapple juice, bar syrup, almond extract, and ice. Best when served at the Honolulu Hilton or similar Hawaii dive. In a carved out pineapple is a nice add.

The wife, after many years, now makes one of the better ones around here. Tip, make your bar syrup with brown sugar! About 1 tbs per dink. Mix equal parts sugar and water, microwave on high till just starting to boil.
