 Pizza and spaghetti...invented by whom?My research indicates that spaghetti was not invented in Italy.Nor was it invented in China as many believe.The spaghetti the chinese ate for centuries was NOT made of wheat flour but rice flour,so that was not the stuff we know today.The wheat flour spaghetti receipe was brought to southern Italy by arab conquerors in the 12th century.The Marco-polo myth was created in 1929,but that is only a myth...that he brought it to Italy or other places. How about Pizza?That is an undefined origin depending upon what you consider pizza.Some say in NY in more recent times,but if you look at ancient flatbread with toppings,my research indicates Persia!In 500BC Persian soldiers baked a flatbread on their shields and topped it with cheese and dates! So Arabia and Iran have my vote on spag and pizza! So we need more belly dancers at all Italian restaurants and at Pizza Hut's in the USA! Hmmm...i'm German/Irish,so I don't eat much of either! Pork and sauerkraut are more my style,with a dark beer! |
