So you like good steak at the TX Road House or LongHorn?
For the "average guy"that may be fine. But then, those places in the title of this post do not offer really superb steaks, dry aged, rubbed down and expensive. One restaurant in Pa(USA)offered them with an extensive wine cellar and more. You know, the type of wine with dusty old bottles coming to your table. But even THEY fell short of a five star steak!

But why stop there?Lets move on to the 5 star, ultimate steak! It makes the Texas Road House
look like a Chinese dumpster open all year long in the heat.....

Yes.Kobe is the ultimate and not in reach of most pocket books! So,on special occasions
and if you don't mind adding a tidy sum to your charge card.Try one!Trouble is where to find a good Kobe! There are Kobe steak places in a number of Asian restaurants that offer it,but much of that is the very lower graded stuff....like 3 on a scale of 12.They also use,as I been told,
the Kobe sourced from Texas....not Japan. Not the same thing!!In NYC,there are a few places. In Paris I have discovered one place and in St Barts there is one place.

The best Kobe comes ONLY from Japan. Not your local Asian restaurant. Not even the Seven Stars restaurant link above. But Seven Stars is as close as you are going to get....that is,if you are in the Pa area of the USA.

Several of my friends order directly from Japan sources and they get it shipped overnight on dry ice. So,it has to be made at home with care.If you burn that baby by accident on your grill(dumb!)you are out quite a large sum of $$!!

So,everytime I see someone bragging about the Road House or the LongHorn on GK somewhere...I just sit back, smile and remember something they do not know about.

There is a truism, after speaking to someone in the restaurant business I met IN Japan years ago, that with the Wagyu or in paticular:Tajima-Gyu... that "IS" the 5 star stuff. Most reports will tell you that the animals are not massaged or given dark beer as part of their diets, but my source said that IS DONE,depending upon the demand rate or exactly what grading level they are trying to achieve,vs price sell levels and the economy. They simply do not want to advertise those things anymore. The calming of the animal with perfect diets will make the difference I am sure!Maybe even a drunk cattle will eventually give you that steak that the Texas Road House would only dream of having? But then, they would get no business!Too expensive for the average dude! And if that dude brings his family along....he better get a bank loan ahead of time!!!

Let me add, that above, when I mentioned "dry aged"I meant 2 months or more!!!
Now,I guarantee those chain restaurants mentioned above would never have that.
That is why they are a "chain".
