Draw leeches, another lesser known psychological ploy
Lately there has been an increase in "draw leeches".A term the old players like me used on other chess sites. So what is that referring to?What some players do is "attach themselves"to a much stronger opponent that accepted a game with them. Then they stall their moves as much as possible, even with obvious move exchanges(ect).Perhaps they find other ways to annoy like repeating the position, just short of a 3 fold repetition, then do it again later in the game. Then finally, they ask for a draw in the hopes that the stronger player gives them a draw just to get rid of them!!This definitely works sometimes psychologically,if that stronger opponent has a large game load ongoing and wants to get rid of the "pest",even if their stronger opponent is up some small change like a pawn. Its a win win situation for the player who may be a 100 points or more below the other player because it gives the lower rated player a few + rating points! Now,if the "leech"does that to say,5 other players and only two more accept...that can add to his points OR equalize his loss of points in any ongoing game that he may lose or knows he will lose soon!

You may be thinking...well,what is the logic or point of that all?Well, the answer is...it does not matter, because a "leech"does not have much of a brain to think. But indeed, there IS a twisted logic to his leech logic!Mr Spock would be proud of the leeches logic.

Let me add to the above that some of the leeches will psychologically intimidate by asking for as much as 20 draws or more in a game in the hopes that one of those requests is accepted! Now,of course, the smart player sees all through that. But even that does not always work. Some stronger players simply do not want to deal with a leech,so they give them the 3 or 4 points for the draw just to remove "it"from their skin.Hogwash?Think again! This is TA here and I know all and see all.

Yes,you hit it on the button.Age and about 1900-2300 is the range.I got my PM sources and spys that keep me informed as well as the actual sources that contact me.But it is easy to see, from time to time with the positions, early draws, early losses and more.It was tried on me as well, several times. But with me,they might as well try to get out of a titanium vault with a toothpick. It won't work.

I think you’re right, some of these leeches may even be going for the win, by carefully choosing and clinging onto the “right” players for ages!

I actually had a "real"leech on me when I was 10 years old swimming in the local creek.
Must have been a foreboding!

I surprise many all the time.
I have eclectic tastes in music, for example.
In my profile I dedicate it to the sweet and legendary Sandra.

But then...this is my hidden side!:
