I was a jazz disc jockey in Pittsburgh, PA from 1970-1972. I have seen Duke Ellington, Ramsey Lewis, Billy Taylor, Willie the Lion Smith, Ahmad Jamal, Maynard Ferguson, Bud Shank, Karyn Allison, Pete Fountain, the Preservation Hall Jazz Band & the 4 Freshmen live. I had short conversations with Ferguson, Shank & Allison and interviewed the 4 Freshmen. The Freshmen were the nicest people. Ferguson & Allison were very, nice too. Shank was polite but not very talkative. I enjoy most the big band trumpet sounds of Maynard Ferguson, and have a library of almost every thing he recorded. I also like trumpeters Arturo Sandoval & Dave Douglas. I have an extensive vynil collection I want to digitalize. I have autographs of Ferguson, Allison, the 4 Freshmen & Lana Cantrell, whom I reegret not catching live when we were both in Albuquerque in the late 70's. I like Gene Ammons, Houston Person, Illinois Jacquet, Paul Desmond, Oscar Peterson, Louis Armstrong, Charlie Byrd, Kenny Burrell, Hubert Laws, Ray Bryant, Wes Montgomery, Chris Connor, Cal Tjader, Chet Baker, Johnny Hartman, Joe Williams, Johnny Hodges and Vince Guaraldi.
